I was actually pleasantly surprised by this movie. I thought it would be lame and enjoyed it quite a bit. Kind of has a modern day Goonies feel to it.

I would reccomend checking it out.

I think you will like it. I also will not be rolling BLOPS I think I will be watching the Giants beat the A's and their shitty GM who ironically enough is having a movie made about him as well.

Nice affordable motels. DDD usually stays at one when he travels.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

We liked it, as well. Spielberg movies usually suck, but this one was good.

Usually? I am not the biggest Spielberg fan, but I hope to suck as much as him.

Just got back and I loved this movie. Not sure if JJ intended it to be, but it seemed like an homage to Spielberg. You had Close Encounters, Goonies, ET, etc in this. I really enjoyed the back and forth between the kids. The diner scene was hilarious.

Yeah I liked it, too. It gave me the same feeling I had when I saw ET in the theater as a kid.

I think I will take my 11-year old son to see it -- I wouldn't mind seeing it again and he has been asking to check it out. I don't think there was anything too objectionable in it.

We saw it tonight as well. My wife was more in the "eh" camp, but I really enjoyed it. Definitely had that nostalgia going for it for those of us who grew up with some of those classic Speilberg movies.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I did not enjoy getting swept by a shitty A's team. Maybe Billy Beane can add this to the movie as it is one of his 3 best accomplishments since he took over as GM.

We enjoyed the movie, a nice summer thriller. I liked it especially because of the homage to moviemaking itself. J.J. Abrams got his start when his teenage films caught the attention of Kathleen Kennedy (Spielberg's business partner). Spielberg invited the young Abrams to edit Spielberg's teenage work. As my friends and I made a few cinematic classics in high school, that aspect of the movie really resonated with me.

Oh, and early in the movie, the young female lead ties her hair up behind her head in one of those twisty bun things. Mrs. PAC leaned over and whispered smugly, "Girls didn't do that back then; that's a recent thing." Almost ruined the whole movie for me.

                            Thanks, Cedar City!

My son--pardon me while I subtly work in this brag, but he is in the middle of his first Shakespearean festival gig in Midsummer Night's Dream after starring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this spring. We have big Lohanesque plans for him--is good friends with this kid.

He did a very nice job as the movie-within-a-movie director/writer/producer. He's also the butt of the usual adolescent cracks about his size, "Can we get another order of fries? My friend here is fat."

Those going to the movie should stick around for the credits, as the kids' final movie is shown as the credits roll. It's very funny.
