This is the only movie that just myself and my father went to together. I was eight or nine at the time and I remember thinking it was really a great movie but most of all how cool it was that my Dad would take me to such a grown up movie. In contrast the only movie I remember just myself and my mother going to was Mary Poppins but for a four or five year old that was pretty cool also.

Cool Hand Luke was the first movie I purchased on DVD (or in any other format). It is probably the film I have watched more times than any other. In my book, Luke epitomizes the best of manliness. -
A buddy in high school was obsessed with this movie. He tried to recreate the hard boiled egg scene. He puked on the 14th egg. We filmed the whole thing and watched the hilarity over and over. Good times.Comment

I saw it in high school with my pals, little knowing what we were in for. Really a fine viewing experience, with so many memorable lines and great character actors (Strother Martin!).

Just trying to help you kids out - a night in the box is banishment to your room by your mother with lights out and no electronics. You make enough messes or mistakes and you gotta deal with Mom. And she is one rough 'ol gal.

Cool Hand Luke and The Graduate came out in the same year. 1967 was a good year for film.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
