  • Good Eats Ending

Alton Brown, who has only been on Twitter a few days, tweated today that Good Eats will be ending after three more hour long episodes.

Good Eats is possibly my favorite TV show. Alton Brown really annoys my wife, which makes it even more fun.

Don't worry they will have plenty of episodes of Semi Homemade to replace Good Eats with.

        You shut your whore mouth!

Good Eats is the only show on FN that is worth anything. I have tried several of the recipes and techniques I've learned from AB, and the only one that hasn't been a resounding and smashing success is the pie crust.

This was my late father's favorite show. I loved it.

Just so I'm not misunderstood, I agree completely that Good Eats was a great show. Alton Brown was entertaining and did have good recipes and techniques. One of the early Christmas eve traditions in the funk household is to make his baked macaroni and cheese.

Just looked up that recipe. I'm going to have to give that a try. It looks very good.

I imagine he's covered almost everything at this point. I haven't watched the show in a couple of years, but it's the cooking show I enjoy the most. I owe much of my (still nascent) cooking/baking knowledge to it. Well done, Alton & Co.

I love Good Eats as well. I think my favorite episode was his cookie one.

Alton Brown hacked Bill Nye's schtick and has made millions from it. I really enjoy his show, but often it is more entertaining than practical. His french toast recipe is about as complex as can be, and is no better than the simple recipe posted by ewth8tr, despite taking 4 times as long and requiring preparation starting a day in advance. I really enjoyed his gyro episode until I realized that his recipe requires making a homemade rotisserie from a heating coil and some pie tins. His turkey recipe with the brine and the foil "breast protector" is great, however.

This is positively decadent. Thanks for the rec.

I like Alton Brown a lot. His recipes usually turn out well for me, though I recently had a lemon meringue pie fiasco with his recipe. There's not anything in the pipeline for FN that gives me much reason to watch it.

I'd like to suggest that we all take a moment of silence. The greatest cooking show ever is about to end a twelve year run. AB deserves our respect.

I agree. Especially when a recipe involves a trip to the hardware store. For as much as he railed against unitaskers he came up with some pretty impractical stuff.
