Honestly, I don't get it. He is all over the place, and I don't think he's the least bit funny. Am I missing something?

Russell brand is lame, tries way too hard. His interviews are affected...he is like UteStar: never breaks character.

For as much as the Brits do well, they seem to struggle pumping out traditional comedians with crossover appeal. I'm trying to think of Brit comedians that can consistently be funny across a variety of mediums...TV, movies, live, etc. The list is short. Besides Python and, of course, The Master Peter Sellers, I struggle to really identify influential and lasting Brit comedians. Dudley Moore did nothing for me. Modern guys like Rowan Atkinson..... I do enjoy Rik Mayal but more for his work on The Young Ones, les for anything recent. I am high on Ricky G right now because he definitely has shown the chops to write, act, and do standup, plus he has the creative jones to produce, as well. Another Brit that I think is genius is Sasha Baron Cohen. His Ali G stuff from the mid 2000s absolutely killed and it was so original. He follows that up with Borat. I'm interested in seeing what he does next.

I'm a big Sacha Baron Cohen fan, too. His roast of Becks and Posh still makes me laugh several years later. I can watch any episode of Ali G and spend the next 8 hours laughing. Like you I'm curious to see what direction he goes in, as I'm sure his success won't allow him to continue to create secret characters.

For the longest time I despised Russell Brand, but something clicked with me recently and now he really makes me laugh. I don't know what it is, but I'm enjoying his laughs for now.

Bruno was funny, too. The movie was not good but he has been doing Bruno bits for years. Go back 6 or 7 years ago and watch clips of Bruno at Fashion Week before anyone knew who SBC was. Hilarious stuff.

I think part of the problem with the movie was that it was hastily done to cash in on Borat and also SBC had become overexposed. His original schtick of creating alter egos had worn thin and was no longer novel in and of itself.

I really think he is good enough to soldier on without the alter ego thing now. He can move forward to the next chapter in his comedy. I'm excited to see what he does.

The Bruno skit where he gets the high school wrestling team to film commercials for a TV network is awesome. The looks on their faces when he yells, "Bravo Gay Network" (or whatever it was) were priceless.

First time I saw Brand was when he hosted the MTV video music awards. I thought he was horrible and I told my wife he blew his one shot at fame. Next thing you know the tool bag is everywhere and banging Katy Perry. He is not funny and I agree with NS I don't get it.

Russell Brand's performance in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" has built up a lot of goodwill in my book. I didn't see "Get Him to the Greek", and "Arthur" doesn't really intrigue me, but I would consider my attitude to be generally positive.

Russell Brand = the British Seth Rogan, only not really. Their comedy and personalities are nothing alike, but both are only marginally funny and I can't figure out how they keep on getting into high profile comedies.

I've only seen Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and as a host of SNL. Prior to that, I thought he was very annoying (based mostly on previews of his movies and his accent). After FSM, I actually changed my opinion. He wasn't great, but he played the role very well. His SNL skits were hit and miss, but whose aren't?

I think I'm in the dire minority here. I don't get it if there is a big fuss over him, but he has killed me in certain things, i.e. FSM.
