This is what I used to think, too. But the last couple of years I've come to think that Dolly expresses the heartbreak in her own way and that the song has its own appeal. I'm not really a Dolly fan, so it's hard for me to get into it, but I can see its merit.

It wasn't something we gave a lot of thought to. It seemed to spring out of nowhere. One day, it was like the seeds of an idea for doing a cover version of it in a rather quirky interpretation, and the next thing, it's finished. It really felt like that, almost. The whole thing was a bit of a romp.

Keeping with the "what in the name of epsilon IV are they thinking" theme, there is this little beauty which may not technically be a cover, but still deserves its own shelf in the hall of musical opprobrium. This video also shows that he really didn't need all that much latex for the ear prosthetics. Who knew?

The song is in Shrek (all over the place actually), but I'm not sure where I have heard the Buckley version... except in "The OC".

I know people that are pissed with the Dylan cover, but I was familiar with the Metallica version long before I heard the original, so I like it.
