• A couple of my favorites:

    Cowboy Junkies covering Sweet Jane

Iggy Pop covering China Girl (technically not a cover because Iggy Pop co-wrote it with Bowie, but Bowie made it a hit.)

      Great call on both, NS.

        • I dig Asian cover bands doing the alt classics of the late '80 and early '90s; they're fascinating.

              • Its hard to find now but

I think one of the best covers of all time is Wilson Picket and Duane Allman covering Hey Jude.

                I found it.

                • This may reveal more of my taste in music than I really want to, but a couple that people haven't yet mentioned, yes I like 60's pop

Billy Idol's cover of Tommy James' Mony Mony
The Nylons' cover of the Turtles' Happy Together

I may be small, but I'm slow.

                  • How about some love for the Mike Flowers Pops Orchestra:

If I recall correctly, this version actually topped Oasis' original on the British charts. A lot of people actually thought this was the original version of the song.

I'm almost always a sucker for mellow covers of hard-ass songs, which is why I am in total agreement with MRD's assessment of Dynamite Hack's Boyz in da hood" cover as one of the all-time greats. I also like Barenaked Ladies covering Snoop's "Gin n Juice."

Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

                    • My SIL sent along this group that's doing synth-pop (?) covers of Hall and Oates and I thought it was pretty interesting. It gets stuck in your head, so please listen.

                        • I have been enjoying this one:

Jack Blades (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees) and Tommy Shaw (Styx, Damn Yankees) cover some 70s songs. The songs remind me of working in the yard with my dad in the 70s listening to the radio.

I heard this on the radio this week, I thought it was good.

                            • Does anyone remember a lounge version of Institutionalized? I can't remember for the life of me who it was, but it was awesome. X96 used to play it back in the 90's.

I believe that is by Richard Cheese. He has a couple albums out of making lounge versions of songs, and I do remember hearing that on X96.
