  • Battle: Los Angeles

The ad campaign for this movie is really sucking me in. I'm including a link to the trailer in case one of you doesn't own a television currently. It appears to be the War of the Worlds type of plot that's been incorporated in several other movies but I'm a sucker for a good alien invasion so I can get past that. Unfortunately, the last movie hype that hooked me this badly was Independence Day and I still consider that one of the top 5 worst movies I've ever paid to see. Anybody know if this one will be good? Or will it just be another special effects throwaway?

I spent a lot of years as a Rage fan trying to compartmentalize their music from their message.

But those fools have some seriously retrograde politics.

            Same here. Great music though.

I saw this on Saturday last. It was fun. It was very, very derivative and full of cliches, and Brother Eckhart is a little had to take at times, btu it was a fun movie as long as you dont go in expecting to ahve your world changed.

Caveat, I saw it between an all day meeting for work and a long dinner meeting for work. IOW, almost anything would have been good entertainment by comparison.
                PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I'm taking this as strong evidence that it didn't suck. I'm going!

I saw this movie last Friday before the semifinal games with Aaron Eckhart's first director (subtle name-drop there). The movie reminds me of a Red Dawn - War of the Worlds combo. Terrible dialogue, lots of explosions, more terrible dialogue, and huge plot holes. It was a fun movie to see with a group of guys at a matinee in Vegas though.

Bottom line:It is worth renting on DVD, for a guy's night movie, but don't waste your time or money going to the theater.

I saw this movie on opening day, first show. It was absolutely packed. A group of six of us actually drove to the then-new AMC 24 in Lawrenceville, Georgia because they had then state-of-the-art cinemas. When Jeff Goldblum said, "we can give them a virus!" I wanted to stand up and scream, "are you <redacting> kidding me?" I later made the following comments:

Will Smith acted like Martin Lawrence was with him in every scene
                      Vivica Fox can't act
Didn't they give the aliens a REAL virus in V

We tried to get over the heartbreak by going to see Phenomenon, hoping that the Travolta flick would be good. Oh, man. It sucked as much as Michael.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Absolute garbage. It was like a shittier version of Independence Day without the star power and clever one-liners. Just thinking about it makes me angry.
