These dancers in front of Muse are retarded. I'd rather just watch them play.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

This Ford commercial with the Jonsi song is the best music so far in the broadcast.

Eminem, Rihanna, Dre and Skylar Grey were awesome. Love Skylar Greys voice its hypnotic.

Also on the piano for Rihannas part was Adam Levine.

I actually thought Katy Perrys song was decent, Gaga is a freak but always entertains. Bob Dylan sounds worse than normal, Lady Antebellum blows.

Also who is the chick that won best new artist? Esmerelda something how that does not go to Bieber or Drake is beyond me.

Channeling Paul Rudd from the Funny or Die video, I think.

From the article I posted above:

That's reminiscent of the best-new-artist category, in which Grammy invariably awards comely and pliant young female artists—19 in the last 30 years. (It helps if you have just one name, as recent nominees Ciara, Feist, Duffy, Adele, and Ledisi will testify.) Recently, this tendency has gotten worse: In 2008, four female artists were nominated, along with Paramore, a punk-lite outfit headed by a female lead singer.

Pretty much right on the money.

Kate Hudson somehow decided having sex with Matt Bellamy was a good idea. Damn that dude is ugly.

Bieb's killed it. I love that little hair monster. Usher really does think he is Micheal Jackson since MJ died, doesn't he?

When did John Mayer start looking like Johnny Depp from the tourist?

                      From what I watched:

That wasn't the Avett Brothers' best song. They were placed awkwardly in that corner, and you couldn't even see the celloist.

Bob Dylan sounded like absolute shit.

I liked the Bruno Mars doo wap.

                      Cee-lo looked like Elmoton John.

I'm in love with Gwyneth Paltrow, and my wife's cool with it.

Mumford and Sons sounded really good.

Justin Bieber can dance like Usher.

Katy Perry should've beat Lady Gaga, but not by much.

Wow, that's exactly what I said to my wife.

Also, I noted to my wife that the Usher performance really reminded me of the early 90's, and she said, "It looks like Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation stuff."

I was thinking about this watching the Beib's movie, but what is the career trajectory for the kid? A Justin Timberlake or Usher type? Can he pull off the transition to adult pop star or is he destined to fade out along the way?

Watching the movie his musicality is pretty impressive. His skills on piano and guitar are pretty basic, but the kid is a seriously good drummer. There's footage of him when he's like 8 years old drumming jazz standards with these old guys at his church.

I thought they got it right with Lady Antebellum and Arcade Fire. Need You Know is a very well written, produced, and performed song. Virtually everything about that recording is perfect.

Arcade Fire is a great choice because of the songwriting, interesting instrumentation, and madcap performances. For me they carry the alternative torch.
