AMC Theaters are doing their annual screening of all the Best Picture nominees. You can do it over 2 Saturdays or (and come on, this one sounds more fun) for $50 you can see all 10 in one day on Saturday the 26th! Who's in?

I'd love to give that a shot, but I've already seen them all and I don't think I have the stamina. The cineplex would have to offer bottomless servings of Red Bull. And watching Black Swan, Winter's Bone and 127 Hours back-to-back would be more than a little draining.

It's Oscar week! I know I care more about this than I should, but I always enjoy the Oscars. I've started enjoying it much more with the advent of DVRs. We record it and start watching at least an hour after after the start time, sometime even later, allowing us to skip commercials, the more obscure awards, long acceptance speeches, etc., while replaying highlights.

I enjoy reading prediction lists, including who should win and who will win. I have three lists, adding "what I like the most" to the two previous lists. For example, I can see the technical excellence of, say, Black Swan, but I really didn't enjoy it. On the other hand, I thought Toy Story 3 was really outstanding, but won't win anything (other than Best Animated Feature).

The Best Picture nominees range from good to very good, even outstanding, but three of them probably deserve more than they've been given credit for: TS3, The Fighter and Winter's Bone. I hope each of them picks up at least one statuette, although I guess Bale is near-lock for Best Supporting Actor, and deservedly so. I'd also give a group award to the women in The Fighter--absolutely loved 'em.

Absolutely a group event. We don't have any fancy schmantzy desserts (although you may have inspired us), but have troughs of buttered popcorn and other eats. I even enjoy the pre-Oscars watching the stars look a bit awkward as they file into the auditorium while everyone dishes on their fashion sense, or lack thereof. With Black Swan being nominated, I'm hoping for a repeat of Bjork's lovely dress (?) a few years back. Should be a fun night.

Saw Kings Speech yesterday after Jimmer's discertation to the despondent of Suck Dog State.

I've seen 6 of the 10 Best Picture Nominees: My favorite was "The Fighter".

Social Network was very well done,,,,but meh...kinda boring.

I enjoyed King's Speech. I like feel good stories when done well.

True Grit was a lot of fun. Jeff Bridges was great but Colin Firth probably deserves to win. The way he portrayed the nuances of those who struggle with stuttering was right on.
