There has to have been a pastiche reaction already because of his "fame." Dude's the Michael Bolton/Kenny G of painting.

I hate his "art" too. Guy is on my WTF Overrated list, along with Robert T. Kiyosaki and Shia LaBeouf.

He sure knows how to make a buck. I can't fault him for that.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'll be the outlier and say that I've always enjoyed his art...particularly the nighttime images of small, snow covered villlages and cottages.

As for his personal beliefs and marketing schemes, I'll agree, he sounds like a schmuck.

Other than the film "The Greatest Game Ever Played" (which is arguably the best sports movie of the 2000s), I'll agree on LaBeouf. And the fact he called his mother sexy is just a little weird, particularly because she is absolutely not.

I think his art is boring. I don't know much about him and his marketing schemes, but he obviously does well for himself. Making good money in the art world is not easy to do, so for that I am impressed.

Can I add "Holes" to your list?

LaBeouf with Henry Winkler as his father were perfect for that film.

That is priceless - I'm stunned this seems to have gone directly to DVD. Looks like Peter O'Toole is throwing in the towel.

I kept waiting for it to reveal itself as a spoof.

I guess this is not the thread to say how much I like the Thomas Kinkade calendar hanging in my cubical

I may be small, but I'm slow.

                          I endorse this thread.

Runner-up awards go to Greg Olson for peddling his art at Costco and Liz Lemon Swindle for her weepy, maudlin, schlock that seems to be omnipresent.

My mother in law would kill you.

She has about 50 original paintings in her home from Greg and Liz. She is on a first name basis with both of them. In fact I saw Greg at Deseret Book one day and asked him if he knew her just to see if she was full of shit or not. He absolutely knew her then I remembered she had probably been paying his house payment for the past 10 years.

For Christmas the whole family (all 14 kids) received a Liz Lemon Swindle framed painting. Five of the kids are about as far from being LDS as you can imagine and a few of them asked us if we wanted 2 paintings. So ebay here I come

Am I the only one of us CUF folks that had to google to find out who Thomas Kinkade is?
