I heard this song in Starbucks this morning. I've always felt it was a very strange ballad. It seems that the little sister murdered in cold blood her brother's wife and the wife's lover. Then she sat by and said nothing during a hasty trial in which her brother was unjustly convicted for their murders and then hanged. And this is supposed to make us understand shoddy backwoods southern lawyers and southern (in)justice?
