How good is Dexter?

I really like Dexter. The first season is very difficult to not be entirely sucked into—as in my case, where I watched three or four episodes the very first night. The show as a whole is a bit uneven. The character Dexter is fabulous, and Michael C. Hall does a great job. I think only season 4 has come close to the precedent set in season 1, however, and I really disliked season 2.

As with any show, it might suffer from too much raving from friends. I would watch the pilot episode with an open mind. If you like it, you will likely enjoy season 1.

I think we had an identical thread last year where we all talked someone into watching the show... can't remember who it was. Nikuman? Anyway...

I watched the first season with zero expectations and zero feedback from anyone other than "hey check out this show." It was joltingly good and addictive. A bit disturbing at first, but once you wrap your head around the premise, it's a very rewarding show for what it is, which is a thriller.

This season is starting to come together, but yeah it won't be on my all-time list when it's over. As far as what's on now I'd say it's top 5 though. Breaking Bad might be a little better, but Dexter is better than Weeds for sure. I can't help compare the 3 due to some obvious similarities.

Had I not started them at 10 PM at night, I would have done the same. I suppose I actually did watch them all in less than 24 hours as I woke up the next day and polished off the season before 5 PM.
