I won't see this film because it's a chick flick.

And if by chance my brain completely locks up and I somehow forget that it's a chick flick, I'm saved the agony of seeing it because Jennifer Aniston is in it.

I'd rather cheer for the Yankees than see a movie with her in it.

She's beautiful, but not much of an actress, IMO.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

As for "He's Just Not That Into You", it was decent for a chick flick. I'm a sucker for Scarlett Johansson, and Ben Affleck is easy on the eyes.

Sorry, Scarlett looked like shit, imo. What was with her wearing the same damn jeans the entire movie and with pantie lines the whole time?

Also, we figured some younger, single people might have liked it. I found it ridiculous and contrived. My wife and I agreed they could have made a better movie by just concentrating on the Jennifer Aniston/Ben Affleck part of the movie. The rest of it was pretty shitty.

I agree with this. I also agree with whoever said that she's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

But talent aside, I love women like Jennifer and Halle and Demi and Dara Torres who are out there breaking all the rules.

My husband watches Tombraider at least once a week, and I don't think it's for the dialogue.

                Jennifer...already agreed.

Halle....this is another one...she keeps getting better with age, it seems.

Demi is attractive, but I have always been of the opinion that stupid rubs off on people. This means that she has a bad case of Ashton all over her skin. I can't get past that.

Dara Torres...she doesn't do it for me. Too much muscle. Of all the Torres celebs, I think Tico Torres from Bon Jovi is the most physically attractive, frankly.

Man, TD, this post speaks volumes about you. Volumes.

While it's enlightening to hear you size up the physiques of these women, not unlike you would do with aging racehorses, I didn't say "wow, all these women have really great bodies." Surprisingly enough, I think women are more than that. I said that thse women are out there breaking the rules, which they are. Jen, Demi, and Halle are all still successful in hollywood on their own terms. Halle I think is still modeling for Revlon, which is just insane if you think about it. And Dara is snagging medals in Olympic sprints. She may not be your type, but she's certainly breaking the rules, too. And with age being public enemy number one for women, I love that these women are out there challenging all of society's preconceptions.

Your initial post about aniston.....what sort of "rule-breaking" and preconceptions were you referring to by posting that nude pic? I would have assumed that were talking about her looks. You also said she was not the sharpest tool in the shed. And that your husband didnt watch Tomb Raider for the dialogue.

So please clarify. I thought this was a thread about looks, much of the discussion contributed by you. Apparently it just switched to more than that?

In fact, the only non-looks comment you have made in this thread is that Dara Torres won a medal in her sport. Am I missing something?

heh. I figured that's where you'd go with this.

The truth is that Jen and Halle and Demi have chosen a profession in which you live or die by your looks. Obviously it's hard to argue that their continued success has been independent of their appearance. In fact, I'd wager it couldn't be done. And I should say that I do have tremendous respect for women who bother to stay in shape.

But I did think it was funny that I said Dara Torres breaks the rules, and though there's an obvious arena in which Dara has broken the rules, you commented on her body instead. That's all.

That is a little unfair. of all the women we were discussing in the thread, every single one of them was a looks-centric commentary. There was zero discussion of merit. it was all physical beauty.

Even Dara Torres garnered a lot of attention for her looks. If she had been a fugly 40 year old, she would not have received as much run.

I guess next time there is a thread that starts with a commentary about how good jennifer aniston looks, and you respond with a naked pic of that same woman, and then you admit that the woman is a ditz, I will know not to comment on physique, because the discussion clearly isn't about much more than that.

It's okay, TD. Sooner or later it comes down to fate. I might as well be the one.
