DO YOU LIKE SCARY MOVIES?
"What's the point, they're all the same," you might say.
Even if you don't, this contest may be for you. It is time once again for the SECOND ANNUAL CUF THRILLER CHALLENGE.
It is has been one year since LA Ute parlayed a lifetime of R-rated/teen skin flick consumption into the honorary title of "Master of Evil." This is a title he will likely not surrender peacefully.
If you wish to wrest it from his cold, dead fingers, then take note:
The challenge is simple. Every day this month I will post a screen cap from a horror/terror movie. The movies will vary in both popularity and difficulty. Some will be recent movies, some will be oldies. You simply guess the movie. The Cuffer that has guessed the most correctly by the end of the month will be crowned the King of Halloween and will retain the title all year.
A few ground rules:
1. This is to be 100% honor system. As such, NO INTERNET/GOOGLE or outside help of any kind (with one exception to be noted later). The purpose of this is to test your celluloid acumen. You either know the movie or you do not.
In order to prevent temptation beyond that which you can bear, I have uploaded the screen caps to my photobucket account. This means that all you right clicking properties addicts will not be able to see the path/filename of the picture in question (cheaters!).
2. Do not divulge the answers or hints in this thread. Feel free to post, but this is a competition. Please do not ruin it for those that wish to play according to the rules. Also, do NOT discuss other horror/scary movies in this thread, as they may appear later in the month. So, to repeat, RobinFinderson, do NOT post your answers in this thread.
3. You are allowed ONE lifeline a day. Your lifeline must be another person, living or dead (or undead). You cannot use the internet, a book, etc. as a lifeline. It can be a coworker, friend, enemy, spouse, child, lover, member of the Taliban, etc.
4. Regarding lifelines....you can only use your lifeline for help on the picture for that day. You cannot go back. You do not have to use any lifelines, but if you do, he or she can only assist you with the picture from that day. Again, this is honor system.
5. You cannot use the same lifeline more than once. This is to prevent someone from using a ringer all month long. I also changed it up and made it harder for LA Ute to keep asking the same person over and over to tell him the name of every movie that isn't called The Princess Bride.
6. Lifeline penalty:
Answer correctly with no help: 3 points
Answer correctly with lifeline: 2 points
Answer incorrectly, but still attempt a guess: 1 point
7. Every day, PM me your guess. I will announce standings to date as often as possible, but strictly at my convenience, so stfu.
7. Regarding your answers, you need to give me the exact title of the movie. The reason for this will become obvious as some of the screen caps get posted (sequels, for example). You need to be specific. I will be the final judge for accuracy, but if you mess up on an "a" or a "the" here and there, no worries.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here and I will answer them. Trash talk and mild vulgarities are encouraged.
Once again, this is all honor system. The only thing worse than being truly evil is being wannabe poser evil. If you don't know the answer, don't sweat it. Chances are, a lot of others won't, either.
Please note that there is nothing in the rules that prevent you from boning up on your horror flick awareness. I encourage everyone to rent some scary flicks this month...watch a bunch of them with the fam...get in the mood.......because you never know.......your movie may appear in the THRILLER challenge!
So now, fellow children of the night, PREPARE TO MEET YOUR DOOM!
