  • The new Brandon Flowers album

    is called Flamingo.

I'm not a music critic. I just like or dislike stuff. I really like this album.

I recommend springing for the extra 4 bucks and buying the version with the bonus tracks.

Plus, the video for "Crossfire" is great. A good looking woman fighting ninjas. Can't be beat.

(I bought digital download of the album from amazon.com. I'm not sure about how it's all packaged in the stores)
"More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

They didn't have it on 8 track?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Said good looking woman is Charlize Theron, my favorite African American.

I just downloaded this album. It's good but I've got a feeling I'll like it even more after listening to it a few more times.

My favorite song has to be "Hard Enough" as I just can't get enough of the little duet that is done during the chorus. I love having Brandon singing the melody with the female voice doing the harmony. Very weird in a good way and very catchy.

I still like his Killers stuff more than this solo album.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

The only song I've heard from this is Crossfire, which my wife plays constantly. I hate the "caught in the crossfire b/wn heaven and hell" lyric almost as much as I love the vocal on the "lay your body down" line.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

If you're looking for a good "caught in the crossfire", then look to Stevie Ray Vaughan.

My wife and I love this album. Flowers was in DC a few days ago and we went and saw him in concert at a great and intimate venue (930 club). He was awesome. My wife wants to have his babies (as well as the Avett Brothers' and David McCullough's -- she has the weirdest crushes).

Anyways, he only played one Killers song -- an acoustic When We Were Young. It closed out the concert. Otherwise, he just powered through his new album, not talking much between songs. When he did talk, his voice was incredibly shaky as if he was so full of energy he couldn't control the steadiness of his voice.

His vocal performance was also very strong. I remember a few performances from years ago that I saw on TV and thought he was off-tune and not very good. Not so at the concert -- incredibly strong vocals.

                  I'm proud he's Mormon.

The shakiness of his voice is because he was a little nervous, I think he does better at bigger concerts that aren't as intimate, he gets nervous around smaller groups of people. He's a nice guy, who had a crappy childhood, so his cockiness now doesn't bother me too much.
