Who ranks Unbreakable lower than Signs? I like Signs, but Unbreakable is the man's greatest film. I'll even defend The Village as a well-made film. But then the guy just dropped into filmmaking Hell. I mean, what happened? Can the guy even recover now?

I'm with you 100% on this one. Unbreakable is great. Also, The Village is 1000x better than Signs.

So you have these people who are all intentionally being kept in the dark and are being intentionally deceived and scared about a danger by people who are trying to protect them somehow, but the danger doesn't exist in reality. It is just a tool of manipulation. And the name of the deceivers manipulators? Walker. Put in the context of 2004 with a President who shares that name and it was off-putting to me. I don't like being beat over the head.

Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were both good. Signs was awful, the Village was even worse and one of the most boring movies I have ever seen, and somehow Lady and the Water was somehow even worse. I can only imagine how bad the Happening and the Last Airbender are if they are considered worse than Lady in the Water. I saw Lady in the Water the opening night and was actually approached by someone who was doing a survey about the movie. I happily filled out the survey and I believe I did conclude it with a similar sentiment as the image posted.

I really like both Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. I actually didn't hate The Village (lacking the acumen to parse out the, as I see it now, fairly thin "Walker" metaphor), and thought it explored interesting ideas of reality as we know it and sources of fear. Signs was meh--I neither hated nor particularly liked it. The aliens looked ridiculous. I suppose I do like the message that our lives have reason and that decisions we make have some sort of purpose, but a lot of life happens without a reason and most of the decisions we make don't really make that much of a difference in the long run.

I will caveat Mpfunk's viewing of Lady in the Water with the fact that his then-roommate and roomate's girlfriend wanted to go see it, and he went with them. I myself have never seen the movie, and find it a bit intolerable that M. Night Shyamalan cast himself as the tortured, brilliant writer. *gag*

I thought Signs was decent. I thought the Village was a joke. Have not bothered to see any of the following movies. In spite of my mistake in watching Pirates 3, I have learned to trust awful reviews.
