You must have been a big Killing Joke fan.

Never mind. SB already did the same dig, but with the Pixies.

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard Come As You Are. I was in an investigators living room, zona 7, guate. It was on TV (mtv maybe?) I watched it all the way through before having them turn off the tv. It was a great riff. I didn't get to listen to the whole album until almost a year later.

seriously. TD's pretty skilled with the pen. Creates that perfect rising crescendo, driving a mounting interest in what is to come. But talk about anticlimactic. What a disappointment! All that just for Nirvana?

All I remember is wondering just what, exactly, teen spirit is supposed to smell like. And then that a month later my brand of deodorant came out with a scent called "teen spirit."

Really? All I thought was DDD is old. DDD, you were off your mission when Nevermind came out. The album didn't apply to you old man. I was a freshman in high school. Kurt Cobain was talking to me.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I actually went and found the videos....I was thinking of Between Planets, not Head On. So the Pixies are exempt.

New Order....The Love Vigilantes....listen at 3:19 to 3:34, or basically throughout the entire song

The Lightening Seeds....Pure....listen at 2:34 or so.

              Jesus and Mary Chain...Between Planets....listen at 1:57 to 2:15

                Wrong. The deodorant came first.

I am amongst the older folks when I go to shows these days.

I saw Nirvana live with the Breeders. Any of you younguns do that? Likely......no. I think seeing Nirvana in concert is one of my proudest shows.

I get a kick out of talking about music with some of the kids in my ward or at stake youth activities. They think that they are going to stump me by asking if I have heard of The Killers of MGMT or The Shins (thanks a lot, garden state, for ruining that one). It usually takes all but about a minute or so and they go on their way to a different adult leader to try to stump them.

All great songs. And very similar. I think my snide Killing Joke comment holds more water though. I believe they were going to sue at one point (which is lame).

Actually, this was my thought, too, but I didn't want to point that out.

For 80s? That was the only Killing Joke song I remember.

To this point, there is a big difference between stealing some notes and being a band that is a sound-alike.

If the Killing Joke criticism (which I know you use in jest) were to hold any water, that would mean that Vanilla Ice is a Queen/David Bowie soundalike? I dont see that.

There is one other 80s song that uses that same riff, but it escapes me right now. Chronologically, I would give the nod to New Order by several years. Love Vigilantes was on Low-Life, which came out a few years before Automatic or cloudcukooland.

I was on my way to see Nirvana at the Dee Events Center in glorious Ogden, Utah. My friend got a flat tire and when we got the donut on, insisted it was too late to go still. I was pretty disappointed. In my memory it wasn't too long after that night that Kurt tried unsuccessfully to snack on a shotgun shell.

So no I never saw Nirvana.

I'm pretty sure Marsupial and I are the same age which is way more than five years younger than you, but a couple years older than gidge. And where do you get off asking how old women are, anyway?
