While I'm in book-review mode...
This one just didn't do anything for me. Maybe it was the translation, but I found the writing sort of clumsy, with some really corny lines. The character development was really heavy-handed, and almost stereotypical. The storyline was also awkward with the real climax coming way too early in the book. I'm a big Grisham fan (until his last few), so you can't call me a book snob, but this book really didn't even hold my attention. I only finished it because I had bought the book and was curious what the hype was about.
I'm in the middle of the movie on netflix (in a hotel room and waiting for my netflix to buffer...) and this is one of the few cases where the movie (really, quite good so far) is better than the book.
I wasn't expecting a classic, but I was at least expecting a page-turner.
