Different Strokes and I'm prepared to die on this hill. For the combination of energy, lyrics, and music it wins hands down.

I will give honorable mentions to Sanford and Son and Barney Miller however. Those are solid tunes.
"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

I still love the big orchestral theme songs from the 50s/60s like Mission Impossible, Peter Gunn, Route 66, Perry Mason…

Also--is there anybody within view of this post who doesn't know the words to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's intro by heart?

                  Some more contemporary contenders:

House - Teardrop by Massive Attack

Vikings - If I Had a Heart by Fever Ray

Narcos - Tuyo by Rodrigo Amarante
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

You know a theme song is good if you don't fast forward through it.

                    Amen to Dexter and Narcos.

                    Sopranos is right up there.

I liked the difference covers of the Wire theme every season.

I always liked some of the themes from the 80's (Airwolf, A-Team, Miami Vice). But I also really like Sanford and Son.

A third for Narcos, love that intro. I also have great nostalgia for Airwolf, A-team, and Knight rider.
