    Hollywood Futures

    On Squawk on The Street this morning, they said that Hollywood futures are just around the corner. Think the new Vin Diesel movie is gonna be gangbusters? Buy some futures on the movie, and participate in some back end percentage points. Think that Tom Cruise is tapped out in Hollywood? Sell the futures for Knight & Day.

    Hmmm... what do the critics do? Will Ebert have to declare that he doesn't partake of the action? Will Siskel have to remain mute on movies that he's bought futures in?

      My guess is Siskel will not participate.
      Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

      None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

      I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

          Are there any studies about the correlation between critics' praise and box-office success? (tough study to do, doubtless)

          There must be some correlation because movie ads will use critics' praise if they got it.

          My favorite example of a dvd cover using a quote from a critic to boost its credentials was for the movie Lake Placid. Some critic said, "It's this year's Anaconda."

          Whoa - don't oversell me on that!
