    Directv problems.......

Anyone else having directv problems? I have 3 receivers, 2 of them have DVRs the third does not. Directv released their new system where you can watch your DVR from any room in the house today, so you can pause a show downstairs and unpause and finish it upstairs. Well both of the my boxes with DVRs will no longer turn on. You call directv and you can not even get through right now, when you do get through it says to reset your box. Then if you try to hold for customer service the wait time is like 3 hours if it does not just give you a busy signal.

So does this mean you can have a single DVR and access it from any of your TVs in the house?

It just finally may be time for me to get DTV, as that was the last item I was holding out for.

I haven't had the TV on today, I hadn't even heard about this update since I usually just delete the emails from DTV. I'll have to check it out and see if we are having problems. Sounds awesome though.

I don't have DTV, but recently our cable company updated their software. It screwed the box up for a whole day, but by that night it was working again. Maybe with such a big roll out they just haven't set it up properly yet. How long has it been since the new system was updated?

Yes. Started this morning when the clicker would no change the channel. Then I reset and all I could get was grey screen. I didn't have time to figure it out.

CJ have you unplugged and rebooted the boxes? Ours wouldn't power on after reading your message, but did after I unplugged and is now going through the start up stuff.

My "reset" included unplugging the box. It booted up then went to grey screen. Oh and none of the buttons on the box worked either.

had the same problem...left for work before trying the reset/power off thing.

Good to know it wasn't just my system.

The box in our BR wasn't working this morning, but a reboot fixed the problem. I didn't check the other boxes but will do so later today. Overall, I've been a very satisfied customer of DTV for many years.

Right now I am at "10% complete on the Receiving satellite info..." screen.

Got through all the set up, picture and sound are there with no ability to change channels or call up the list of recorded shows.

Just spoke with Directv, they said you have to reset the box twice for it to work.

Also D-hole yes that is the new Directv upgrade, you can watch any shows that are on your DVR from any TV at any time. I really like the feature where you can pause a show in one room and unpause it in another to continue watching.

That is where I got the first time. When I hard reset I then made it worse.

I haven't had any problems with my Directv but I don't use their DVR stuff. I record my TV via MythTV so I can watch the programming anywhere I please. For example, it automatically creates podcasts of my favorite shows without commercials (automatically flags and removes them) so I can simply sync the iphone before I go on a long trip or something.

are you running this on a Linux box? Do you have any experience with the MAC OS version?
