I haven't had a chance to watch last night's episode, but I've heard it's probably the best they've done so far. I love that show.Originally posted by Commando View Postnice- might I make some recommendations?

Good list. I haven't heard of a couple of these but I'm a big fan of DARKO and especially FIREFLY. MACHINIST is also good and a fascinating example of those movies where an actor seems committed to a role almost to the point of mental illness. Enjoy!Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostSo I've finally got my Wii hooked up to the internet so I can watch Insta-movies (not the same as regular Netflix DVDs) though the Wii. Here's my queue. If you like any one of them, let me know and I'll bump it to the top. If any of them suck, tell me that too, and I'll remove it from my playlist.
I had good luck when some of you recommended Moon and Beavers.
You are also welcome to mercilessly taunt and mock me for my choices.

We just got Netflix streaming on our Wii as well and we've been loving it. Hey if any of you other Netflixers are interested, we can become "Netflix Friends" and then we can ALL mercilessly taunt and mock each other's choices.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...
None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

Donnie Darko is excellent. Really repulsed by the Basketball Diaries-don't remember really why-it was almost 15 years ago that I saw it. Metropolis is important but not exactly a barrel of laughs.Originally posted by Green Lantern View PostGood list. You may need a little levity on your list.

True. It's an amazing looking film though. I haven't watched it since film classes in college but now I'm holding out to see it on the big screen if and when it makes its way across the country with that new hour of footage they discovered in South America a couple years back.Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostMetropolis is important but not exactly a barrel of laughs.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

I saw it at an age when I did not appreciate an amazing looking film, it was a pearls before swine. I saw this "M" and "Nosferatu" in like a 4 day period and I was maxed out on black and white. I would be interested to see it again especially with new footage and to see if I have become more of a cinephile.Originally posted by Green Lantern View PostTrue. I know what you mean. Obviously where and when you see a movie has a huge effect on the overall experience. I was lucky enough to see NOSFERATU at a silent movie theater here in Salt Lake with live organ accompaniment. It was pretty cool.Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostI saw it at an age when I did not appreciate an amazing looking film, it was a pearls before swine. I actually didn't see it, and at a minimum I think GL thought it might be worth seeing. Then again, I think he just wanted someone else to commiserate with after seeing it.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostEdit: after a search of the forum, I rescind my recommendation of "Antichrist". Both MG and GL hated it.
My Von Trier experience is limited to Dancer in the Dark and Dogville, both of which I like and think are worth seeing.
Right now my chief film objective is to get further into Cronenberg's stuff.Last edited by MarkGrace; 05-22-2010, 01:57 PM.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Ooh, that's a good goal. I need to rewatch DEAD ZONE, one of the finest Stephen King adaptations ever made IMO. And I've never seen some of his best known stuff, like DEAD RINGERS. Hey KatyLied, it looks like THE FLY, THE DEAD ZONE and SCANNERS are all available for instant viewing. I've seen Dead Ringers and scanners, and I also think the Dead Zone was the best adaptation of King.
Hey, this thread isn't just about me. You all should post your list too. I'd like to see what others are waiting to see.
And who recommended Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans again? We watched that last night and my husband kept asking me "Now why did you want to see this?"

I saw Eraserhead when I was too young and I was traumatized by it. I thought Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was fantastic--my favorite movie that year. I haven't really liked anything else he's done though.Originally posted by Commando View Postnice- might I make some recommendations?

Quick question: I thought the Last Airbender was coming out this summer. Isnt it the new M. Night Shyamalan?

I'm pretty sure that was a GL recommendation, but I would have seconded it. That was a great show, very funny sometimes too. The scenes where Cage was totally whacked out were priceless.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostAnd who recommended Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans again? Yeah, the Syhyamalan movie is an adaptation of the original animated series that ran for 3 seasons on Nickelodeon a couple years back. The series was very good, kind of long-form storytelling mix of LORD OF THE RINGS, kung fu movies and Japanese anime.Originally posted by Katy Lied View Post

Yeah, that was me. I loved that movie but I fully concede that you kind of have to be on Herzog's wavelength or you might just think it's a big joke.Originally posted by falafel View PostI'm pretty sure that was a GL recommendation, but I would have seconded it.
