I dont think it uses a little CGI. It uses a lot.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostCome on. You said:
Admitting to using "a little CGI" is a far cry from "CGI driven".
It's OK to whiff one now and then. We all do it.
Again, all the scenes I mentioned have CGI in them. the article you linked mentioned that CGI was used and it only focuses on the one stunt scene in Hong Kong and a shot of Christian Bale standing on the roof of the Sears Tower. This is a near 3 hour movie we are talking about here.
The title does seem to imply that there was very little used, but then if you read the contents, it is revealed that he wanted to use as little as posisble, not that he actually did use little CGI.
Yes, of course there is a load of CGI in that movie. Perhaps less than your average comic book movie, but way more than what Oscar likes to see.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

lol. this is my point. Eckhart deserves the Best Method Actor award for allowing his flesh to rot off the bone to shoot those 2-Face scenes. Photorealism!Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostWhatever, Aaron Eckhart just knows dedication to a role.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

It was a fun movie, albeit very dark. Here is a clip of the intro, which I thought was pretty engaging. Seems to support your point about the Joker, though.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostIf you take out the Joker was there any other part of TDK that was good? Hard to be a best picture type movie when 60% of the movie is average at best, even if the 40% he was in is phenomenal.

I just noticed the "Pissy Little Doggie" sub-moniker......you honor my name-calling. You have to know that this makes me purr and makes my ego swell with elation at the recognition, no matter how sarcastic, of something I wrote.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postthis makes me laugh. back in college, I had the same conversation with a roommate over a batman movie. I can't remember which movie, but it was in theaters around the same time as Jurassic Park 2.....the one where the dinosaur runs all over the city.
So my roommate complains that he did not enjoy the latest Batman movie because it was too unbelieveable. He then went on to say that he much preferred the Jurassic Park movie.

Rocky... artistic merits are the last thing you've ever cared about in film, music, etc. Your view of movies is the same as my brother Frank's view: You don't like it unless it's got boobies* and/or explosions.Originally posted by RockyBalboa View PostSo you're saying believeability/reality ought to be considered when it comes to honoring movie instead of it's artistic merits?

Yeah, I'll stick up for Rocky here. He has pretty broad tastes in movies.Originally posted by RockyBalboa View PostWrong again Tim."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

The Rock has definitely commented in the past about other things...script, characters, dialogue, etc..Originally posted by Tim View PostRocky... artistic merits are the last thing you've ever cared about in film, music, etc. Your view of movies is the same as my brother Frank's view: You don't like it unless it's got boobies* and/or explosions.

Also, he has not shied away from giving action movies a huge thumbs down, lest anyone interpret my previous TDK commentary as an attempt to paint Rocky as an action movie junkie. I think it was that awful Will Smith superhero movie that I am talking about. As I recall, rocky thought it sucked. So did I.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

If it blowed up real good, it's a great movie."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill
