    Yeah, I think that's right.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

      Watched it. Hated it.

The biggest problem I have is the red headed chick. She's ugly and she's always chewing on something like a cow chewing her cud. I watched 20 minutes and called it quits. I'll try the original instead.

I think she is chewing nicotine gum. She always had a look when the guy she was working with lit up and especially when he blew smoke in her face.

I thought it was pretty good. I wonder if the public will embrace a murder series without closure every week.

          Spoiler for some trailer spoilers:
The acting of the victim's family was very impressive. Both the husband and wife were extremely raw and believable. For me, it was the reaction of the the victim's younger brothers from time time that the mother first found out that her daughter was actually dead, to the scene when the parents told the boys that their sister was gone that really cut to my emotions. Those two boys acted how I think my two boys would react to losing their sister; fear, confusion, disbelief, sadness and anger. It was truly heart wrenching.

Specifically, when the boys were staring at their mom with extremely frightened expressions as she listened on the phone to her husband's reaction to finding their daughter dead in the trunk of a car, my wife stood up left the room. She just could not take it. To her, that scene was too emotionally powerful and awful. She wont' be watching. I think she could watch the series if there was a somewhat quick closure and payoff of finding the murderer. She likes one hour crime dramas I think partially because there is closure.

I liked the pilot, and I will keep watching for a while. I can also say that like my wife, I was fairly disturbed, which I guess is pretty impressive since the show didn't use sensationalized over-the-top violence to convey this feeling. I am interested in the outcome, but I wonder if the general audience is going to have the patience for the payoff. Hell, I don't know how long I can continue to take the emotional pain without some closure. We will see how it goes

I agree with your spoiler about the raw emotion of that part of the story. The acting/writing/editing was top notch and it moved me. I watch tv/movies to feel something. I don't mind if it is happy or sad. I just want to feel and The Killing successfully accomplished just that.

For those that missed this and have no DVR, you can download the first two episodes in HD or SD for free from Amazon and iTunes.

I actually liked the red head lead. I think she was terrific. You could tell that her mind was elsewhere early on but as it progressed, her actions showed her to be disturbed and determined to figure it out. My wife even responded that she, as the lead, draws you into it all. Thumbs up from me.

The guy detective will be interesting. He is different and I like it. Curious to see how he develops.

I watched this and found myself being drawn into the story. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of it. I just wish shows like this would be more like a mini-series so I can see the entire thing in a few days, rather than have to wait a week for the next episode.

Just finished the premiere and now anxiously await tonight's episode. Not sure how I can feel so differently about it than many of you but I really liked it. I thought character development was great for just 2 episodes. I'm in.

Last nights episode was terrific and sad. It will be tough to watch, I think, throughout the season. The acting and the mood are both very good.

Just watched the first three episodes and really enjoyed it. I've read so much about how the show is pretty slow, yet watching it I don't see that at all. To me there seems to be quite a bit happening and I'm enjoying all the angles to the story.

I've now seen all three episodes too and I agree, not nearly as slow as I was expecting. Nowhere close to Rubicon in terms of pacing.

                          Spoiler for spoiler:
The part where the parents told the boys about their sister, on the beach, killed me. That was seriously hard to watch. Good t.v. I'm annoyed for the lead detective because of what her LT is doing. But of course I knew she'd stay.

I also got the feeling that perhaps the incumbent mayor may have had something to do with the girl ending up in the councilman's campaign car. Did anyone think that? Remember that Jasper's (the rich kid) is apparently the biggest water-front land owner in town or something, and the incumbent's campaign is riding on the waterfront revival project. Just a thought.

I'm usually not a fan of serial-style shows, but the first three episodes have drawn me in.

I agree it was tough to watch the parents tell the boys about their sister. I can't imagine having to do that. My head tells me that that Jasper kid is who killed her. He's a spoiled rich kid who is used to getting his way and never has to face the consequences of his actions. But my gut says there is something about the teacher that just isn't right. I can't explain it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he has something to do with it, though he may not actually be the one who killed her. Perhaps Jasper bought him off?

The challenge for us with this series is going to be avoiding the people who have seen the Danish version and who want to tell everyone who the killer is. I was reading The Killing page on facebook and had to stop because there were too many tools dropping hints.

Ha! That's why I am proud to be absolutely clueless when it comes to the entertainment industry. I'd never heard of the Danish version until it was mentioned in this thread and odds are I don't know anyone who has heard of it, let alone seen it.
