    Introducing your kids to Star Wars

    Parents, what is your advice?

    Here is the article that is spurring me to broach the topic:

    This is a long-standing question for Geekdads of all kinds: 1) WHEN do you introduce your children to the Star Wars movies and 2) In what se

    In an ideal world, I would present them in narrative order, because like the article pointed out, the first three movies contain a lot of filler content that appeals to kids, and they'd appreciate the superior level of story-telling contained in IV-VI at a later age. Practically, though, they'd probably end up watching whichever movie I was watching at the time.

    Since I have girls right now I doubt there will be any interest. Should I have a son, I plan on raising him to not be a sissy and get his ass kicked during recess for having imaginary light saber battles with other dorklings. Beyond the series' relevance to pop culture, I will have no desire to indoctrinate him in nerd-dom.

      Uh, there is another option, which is "Show them the original trilogy and don't even bother with the prequels since they suck." That's the strategy I've taken with my daughter. She's almost 5 and enjoys the originals.

      Also, I have a problem with this argument:
      This is the order of the story as Lucas conceived it, and which he’s generally endorsed;
      That's crap. Lucas didn't "conceive" of the story that way. He may have thought of the general concept of Anakin becoming Darth Vader, but come on, he didn't think up the prequel stories until years after the originals.
      Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

      None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

      I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

        I think HFN Jr. saw Revenge of the Sith first. Most kids right now would be more interested in the newer movies since that is what is reflected in video games like Lego Star Wars.

            1. Well, God just reassigned your son to another family.

            2. I'm sure you and cougjunkie will make a beautiful son together.

            3. Seth Green has an entire interview on Hulu about people like you. It isn't kind.
