It looks lame, but what is the movie?"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

No way! I love the "Catch phrase!" part.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostAh....got it.
Still lame.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

The "catch phrase!" was funny, as were several other parts, but on the whole it was a fail. Look at the best picture winners this decade and the only one it even remotely resembled was A Beautiful Mind. Otherwise we're talking about Gladiator, Chicago, LOTR, Million Dollar Baby, Crash, The Departed, No Country For Old Men, Slumdog Millionaire and The Hurt Locker.Originally posted by falafel View PostNo way! It looked more like a parody of a terrible movie like The Soloist rather than an actual best picture winner. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

It looks lame, but what is the movie? What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'll happily admit that I'm ignorant about movies and other entertainment.

I guess I didn't really think of it as a parody of an actual award winning film, as much as a parody of films that employ these stereotypes in an effort to get nominated. In that light, its very accurate IMO.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Yeah, I know what they were going for. But they called it Academy Award Winning Movie Trailer, so I'm just going by what they represented it as!Originally posted by falafel View Post"This scene will not make it into the film (splash)."

The joke would have worked better had then been more careful with the language.
A lot of nominated films have looked like that, but in contemporary terms very few actual winners.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Rain Man is older than the last 10 years, so that should tip you off that the parody is not meaning to focus on Crash and The Hurt Locker.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThe "catch phrase!" was funny, as were several other parts, but on the whole it was a fail. lol at your referencing Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, and Chicago as support that this parody does not resemble recent winners. gee, do you think so?

LOL.
I found some of the quotes funny and made me chuckle. The facebook comment (Hoosiers replica) was funny and the car scene "Repetition whisper"...
