    "Little Dorrit" - BBC production



    As a Dickens buff, I found this to be a nice production, fun to watch. I had just finished reading the novel and bought the DVD when I saw it. Apparently this BBC costume drama was a big deal when it came out in 2008-09 or so. There's a review here, which I think is essentially on-target. The star, Claire Foy (photo above), has a leading role in "Season of the Witch," coming out in a week or two. There are some fine English actors - the usual "Masterpiece Theater" suspects, like Tom Courtenay, who do a great job.

    Tip: You'll enjoy this one a lot more if you've read the book first and if you turn on subtitles (the accents were a little tough for me in some of the dialogue).

      My wife and I liked it, it was well done. I thought the guy that stole the show was the son of the prison keeper. My wife really wanted him to end up with the girl. I have since seen him in Being Human, a BBC production where he is a werewolf, and he is great.
