    Japanese Black Theater

Ok, when the Japanese are not inventing rad electronic equipment or purchasing unique tennis shoes, they like to perform Black Theater.

This is basically when a bunch of Japanese people get on stage dressed in black, act crazy, and do stuff that looks awesome.

Here are a couple of examples...the first one with a Matrix sort of vibe...

and the second one with a Super Mario theme. This one is excellent except for the pop culture acid trip in the middle when Mario goes down the tube into the underworld.

How do you know they're not lousy with ninjas?
There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

          We don't. That's the trouble.

          I want to see ninjas!

It appears to be Super Real Mario Brothers.

This is a modern offshoot of the old Bunraku puppet shows of yesteryear. There is a cultural precedent.

The title is "Super Real Mario Brothers"

I don't know what the hell that means either.

Further edit: the name of the show/deal is "Kasou Taishou" which literally translates as "Costume Big Prize". There are many, many of these floating around. Search for "Ping Pong Matrix" on Youtube. Then do a search for "Human Tetris" if you want more wacky stuff.

My favorite, of course, is Silent Library:

I have a ton more links to wacky Japanese stuff that I can post later. The "Good Morning Squadron" is particularly nasty.

Here's the best one, in my opinion. At least it's the first one I saw and that made a strong impression.

This one was the first one I saw as well. It was a viral video after making it onto eBaum's World years ago.
