  • Buckethead and Viggo Mortensen

Came across this weird collaboration today. I didn't know that Viggo was into music/poetry. I guess he composed some stuff too for LOTR. And somehow he and Buckethead have released some albums together.

After Eastern Promises, I can never look at Viggo the same way.

...with the smallest impact possible is apparently how most take it from Viggo

          LOL.

Maria Bello in A History of Violence may disagree.

That movie was more than disturbing and much more graphic than I was prepared for.

                Same with Eastern Promises.

Cronenberg has one sex scene and one violence scene that are seriously disturbing in just about every film. Knowing it's coming you think you can prepare for it, but it still always catches you off-guard. The dude can just be raw.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I like some of Buckethead's work. I really enjoyed the band Praxis with Buckethead, Bernie Worrell, Bill Laswell, Brain, and Bernie Worrell.

When you first see Buckethead you think metal guitarist who escaped from mental institution. The complete opposite is true.

He is a monster guitarist/composer whos music covers a lot of territory. I first heard his music at The Sharper Image. I guess they were distributing one of his albums or something and using it to demo some of their cheesy stereo systems. I was floored.

Buckethead gets criticized for not sounding exactly like Slash during his stint in G&R.

Well, Buckethead played a different guitar, with different strings, with a completely different rig. So no, he didn't sound like Slash.

Buckethead is still a great player.

I think that describes Anthrax - "It's time for your medication sir"

Buckethead has collaborated on a few albums with John Zorn and had some of his albums released on Zorn's various labels. Buckethead has in a lot of ways taken a John Zorn type approach to recording/composing in that he records in a lot of genres and records a lot of albums. Also, I understand that Zorn motivated Buckethead to record a lot.

I don't have a lot of his recordings but have really enjoyed what he has recorded.

Looks like I need to re-rent some Viggo movies... Which one was the one where he fought naked?
