  • We have it and two of my daughters have been playing it. They like it a lot. I haven't played it.

The cool thing about the Zelda games is that they are all in the same universe, but hardly ever the same Link and Zelda; meaning they all take place along the same timeline, but not in order. Meaning that the background and context from the other games mainly come in the form of easter eggs - not the main plot. There is not a sequential storyline at all. You can jump right in to Tears of the Kingdom and save Breath of the Wild for later.

I think all of the Zelda games hold up incredibly well. I think I have ptsd from how hard The Adventure of Link was (that I played when I was 11-12 lol), and how much grinding there was (gaining XP to be able to advance, etc), so I kind of cringe at the idea of going back and playing that one, but all the others I feel like I could go back and would look forward to playing them.

      • Seeing the mixed reviews coming in with Starfield, I guess I'm not going to buy an Xbox Series X to get it. If the reviews had been better, I might have pulled the trigger. I'll wait on this one until the cost of hte Series X comes down.

Oh really? I haven't read them but I get the sense it's buggy and that those will be worked out. Is it an Xbox exclusive? That would surprise me. I have the gamepass or whatever so I'm getting it regardless, but.... I don't feel like I'm even halfway through Zelda!

It is an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft owns Bethesda now.

Ohhhh that's right! That's a game changer! Fallout 5 is the one I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for but never thought about how it won't be on PS5! (maybe) Weird!

                • We've had an NES clone for a few years now. It's been collecting dust for about a year. My son really loved the Mario games he has on the Switch and checked out a library book on the history on Nintendo. After reading it he has been on the NES playing SMB 1 - 3. It's been fun playing with him. I don't have my old SNES anymore but that's now what he wants to check out. You can get most of Nintendo's SNES games online and introduced him to Super Mario World. I think I've played it about 6 hours over the last week. It really is the best of the Mario games.

Yeah it's pretty awesome. But there are a ton of Mario games you probably haven't played. I think Mario 64 alone is better. Mario Galaxy 1&2 are awesome, and Mario Odyssey is pretty amazing, too. Nintendo just did a Nintendo Direct (a live presentation on YouTube) about their latest game coming out later this year that you will probably be interested in if Super Mario World is your thing.

There is definitely an argument for Super Mario World being the best.

Honestly, I never loved Mario 64. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are great. Never played Mario Odyssey.

Looking forward to playing Mario Wonder with my son, although he doesn't really seem to like the 2D Mario Games that much.

Well, I'm sure that Fallout 5 won't be on PS5 for sure, because it won't get released this generation. I'm not sure we will see Fallout until the PS7, especially when they are saying it will be worked on after Elder Scrolls 6. So, maybe a 2035 release?

I'll check it out. My initial video game years ended when I graduated high school which was before the 64 came out. I didn't play another mario game until the Wii.

Descending lower than Pokémon? How is that possible?

                              • Bought Elden Ring last week, broke my controller in frustration 4 hours in, now have nothing to play. Most riduculously hard game I have every played. Like the look of Dead Island 2 so might get that next.
