When is Adam Sandler going to learn that his old SNL schtick that was funny 15 years ago is not necessarily funny in every movie he has to make? His nonsense talk and silly songs were cute on SNL but there is only so much I can take. Or really, when am I going to learn not to watch a movie with Adam Sandler in it?

I watched Funny People last night. Danimal fell asleep. Lucky guy. It was too long, the plot meandered and it wasn't funny. Not even the stand up scenes were funny or original. And pretty much every joke had to do with penises or masturbation, which is fine in moderation but 2 hours of it was painful.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I laughed harder at that than I did the entire movie. You're funnier than Adam Sandler.

Which Adam Sandler is in this movie? There are three options:

-All-around idiot (Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison)
-Tries to be a serious character, but from a comedic angle (Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates)
-Tries to be a serious character from a serious angle (Spanglish, Bulletproof)

          You forgot:
-Tries to be mentally unstable from a bad acting angle (Reign Over Me)

            somewhere between #2 and #3

Sandler is best when is is operating in #1 although Wedding Singer was OK.

I liked him in Punch Drunk Love, but then I like everything Paul Anderson directs.

I thought Sandler was excellent in FUNNY PEOPLE. He's actually an interesting and nuanced actor when he challenges himself (see: PUNCH DRUNK LOVE and SPANGLISH.) FUNNY PEOPLE had a lot more to offer than just dick jokes and funny songs. I grant that the movie is a little meandering and shaggy, but that was part of its charm. The great characters and interactions in that flick made it one of the better movies I saw last year.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

I did not really enjoy Funny People (I didn't hate it, but didn't love it) but I love Spanglish, for whatever reason. If I'm flipping channels and I stumble upon Spanglish, whatever portion remains is getting watched. Sandler is great in it, and I've had a slight crush on Tea Leoni since Bad Boys.

I'm trumping both of these. I trace my crush back to the short-lived Fox sitcom FLYING BLIND.

Just a quick question: is this actually you?
I'll take my answer off the air.

I could answer this in a PM but secret identities are overrated. That's all me baby. Does this mean it's time to change the avatar?
