Watched Julie and Julia last night

I was utterly and thoroughly bored. Seriously, I have no idea why that was made into a movie. There was no point to it. The chick made a blog that 50's of people commented on and she got a book deal out of it. Not that interesting.

What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

In other words, I thought Meryl Streep was great in it. They couldn't have picked a better Julia Child.

I agree there. She did a fantastic job. That said, I still saw no point to the making of that movie.

Thanks for the heads up, though it's not like I would have ever watched it anyway.

I would poke myself in the eye before seeing that.

My wife and mother in law saw it. My wife was bored out of her mind and MIL fell asleep in the theatre.

I would rather admit to crying at football games than admit to watching this movie.

I liked it, but I love Julia. It was a bit longer than it needed to be, but whatever.

Really? I just don't understand. There was nothing compelling about the story. If Hollywood is going to make a movie based on a true story, then at least have it be interesting. The girl makes a blog and gets a book deal. That's not a story to me. The Blindside, on the other hand, that's a good real life story. It had the fact is stranger than fiction aspect and was something that really made you think. J & J had nothing.

I watched it on my drive back from Utah yesterday. I liked it. Wasn't my favorite movie of the year, but I enjoyed it.

I liked the movie a lot, although I liked the Julia parts more than than the Julie parts. I especially enjoyed the relationship of Julia and her husband, but Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci are always going to be good. And Jane Lynch (playing Julia's weird sister) is one of the funniest actresses around. She was the lesbian dog trainer in Best of Show and is in Glee (not that I'd ever watch that).

Yes, the Julia part was much more interesting, I will agree with that. I'm obviously in the minority because the movie did get rave reviews. Maybe I will start a blog that 50+ strangers will read and I can get a book/movie deal too!
