The Unit and Without a Trace...

I have been waiting for the next season of The Unit to start up and it hasn't...so I start googling and find out that it was cancelled by CBS. They also cancelled Without a Trace.

    Damn.

I liked Without a Trace quite a bit. Some of those episodes were hard to watch. I remember one in particular about some elementary aged girls who were bullying this boy who ran away and tried to kill himself. That one killed me.

From what one of the producers said, The Unit was canceled because NBC was canceling CBS-owned Medium. CBS wanted to keep it on the air, so they canceled The Unit which was owned by 20th Century Fox. He said that if CBS owned The Unit, it would've done at least one more season, maybe two.
      Not that, sickos.

I'm a big David Mamet fan, so was sad that The Unit was canceled. Hopefully he finds another project for television. It suits him well.

Wait, wait. Mamet was affiliated with The Unit?

He was the Creator/Producer and directed several episodes. Not sure if he wrote any of the episodes.

He did. He wrote some of the best episodes (IMO) of the series. They had several good writers though, including Eric Haney. He wrote the book the series was based on.

I'm sort of glad to see these shows go. I never watched The Unit, but I did watch Without a Trace several times (Poppy is hot!). IMO network television is littered with these sort of team-based crime solver shows and its getting hard to wade through it all.

I was glad to hear that Medium stuck around. That's a great show.

Gidget loves this show. It never changes. Intro is a dream sequence. Patricia Arquette wakes up. More dreams come through out the show until crime is solved. I hate it. However, Patricia Arquette makes me feel funny.

And I agree about Poppy too.

Yeah, but you can say the same thing about all of those crime dramas. They're all the same! They start out in one direction, then there's a twist, and at the end it was someone you wouldn't have expected. Well guess what, now I always expect it. If people knew how boring and straightforward the vast majority of these cases really are, they'd laugh at all these crime dramas.

At least Medium has some detail that none of the other shows have. And its got good characters. Joe is cool. Manny's... pretty cool. Lee is cool. I can't say the same thing about the others in this genre.

I envy Joe. He has good one-liners. Stuff that I would like to say, but 1) am not clever enough to think of, and 2) would land me in deep crap with my wife. So I live vicariously through Joe, a fictional tv character.

Yeah, curious that Gidget finds Joe so attractive despite what some of his retorts. And she says looks don't matter.

I like the oldest kid too. She's funny, though I didn't know she was a girl for the longest time.

Do you mean Bridget, the second oldest? There's no mistaking Ariel, the oldest, for a boy. Bridget, on the other hand...
