  • Christmas Carol 3D

Has anybody seen this yet? We're planning on taking the family today but someone told my wife it was pretty true to the book and thus scary in parts for kids. My youngest are 7 and 9 so I'm not that worried ... but they are all wusses like my wife (when it comes to scary and movies) so maybe I should be.

    Anybody seen it?

everyone I spoke with said to leave the little kids at home. scare factor, as you mention.

my kids are turning 5 soon. They wont see this one.

The movie itself I heard was enjoyable, though. Sounds like a Polar Express type deal with Jim Carrey playing several roles, a la Tom Hanks in Polar.
    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I haven't seen it but at 7 and 9, I would think they'd be just fine. At least, I wouldn't think twice about taking my 8 year old to it.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

That's what we decided. They are actually almost 8 and 10 ... and we watched a trailer and they want to see it.

The woman who told my wife that had a 6 year old ... those 2 years are big at that age.

The 2-3 reviews I have read were all negative. Looks terrible to me.

The reviews I have read use the word "soulless" a lot.

Pretty accurate IMO. Another example of a movie with so much focus on special effects, 3D, animation, etc. that they forget ot make a good move while they're at it.

My 7 year old was pretty scared through most of it too ... I would probably make a different decision had I known.

These reviews are interesting. My sister is pretty straight and reserved. She suggested I take my 7 year old granddaughter and see it. This is the first movie I can remember her encouraging me to see. Maybe she forgot to wear the 3D glasses.
