The Blindside

Saw it a few hours ago.... I thought it was a very solid movie. I'm a sucker for the "look what can happen when you decide to make a difference" type shows, even better when they are based on a true story. It's not going to be picture of the year or result in multiple Oscars, but it was still a good flick nonetheless.

I could have done without all of the old coach cameos but they weren't a huge part of the movie. Tom Lemmings "contribution" should have made it to the editing room's floor.

The worst part of the film was the jackass 2 rows back who had to full on belly laugh at anything that was even slightly amusing.

On the Joe Glenn rating scale I'll give it 0 middle fingers up.

Interesting. For whatever reason, this movie has received Oscar buzz, esp for Sandra Bullock. From everything I have seen, it has no makings of Oscar, specifically BECAUSE of Sandra Bullock.

I think I will still probably check it out next week.

I liked the book and will definitely catch the movie.

And supposedly this is Sandra Bullock's best performance ever. I never thought she would be able to top Speed 2: Cruise Control.

Did you read the book? Based on the book I can't imagine it producing an Oscar even if Tom Hanks played Leigh Anne Tuohy. Actually the book is a decent read. It doesn't have near the charm of say Liars Poker (another Lewis offering) but its pretty good.

The book is fantastic. The movie looks less than stellar, but if foof endorses it I'll probably check it out.

Good book but doesn't rank anywhere near the best of Michael Lewis. I would rank it a distant third to Moneyball and Liars Poker.

Don't skip the book just read Moneyball and Liars Poker first. One problem with the Blind Side was the expectation of living up to Moneyball or being a football version of Moneyball.

ps you generally go to movies on Friday mid morning?

I don't normally go to movies, but when I do go it is usually first showing Sunday mornings. Nobody there but me, my wife and a handful of weekend dads with their kids. I'm a bit of a recluse and have no use for crowds... or other people in general.

We both had the day off today so we decided to go - figured people would be flocking to the vampire show rather than this one.

The Blind Side

Looks like no one has commented on this one. We saw it last night. It is terrific, somewhat Capraesque. Football fans will love it even more. Go see it!

My wife wants to see it, so we'll probably go. My concern is that it's going to be one of those touchy-feely, overly-sentimental and cliched sports movies.

Guess I'll find out.
