I used to be a big fan. I fell off the wagon a long ways back though, about the time Lana was being turned into some Chinese warrior or something and everyone was looking for those artifacts or pendants or whatever.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI'm not doing too well this season. I've only seen two episodes. The Friday night slot is not working out for me.
She's not on the show anymore is she? What happened with Lex? I loved his character and the idea that he and Clark were once great friends."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

By the time Lana's character came to an end, she was completely unbearable. I'm not kidding, she ruined every scene she was in. Even her extreme hotness couldn't overcome what her character had evolved into.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI used to be a big fan. Michael Rosenbaum wouldn't renew his contract, so he was written out of the show even though they are tangentially still trying to use the Lex character. The Green Arrow thinks he killed him -- as does Clark -- but the way they are playing it he's in hiding and his assistant has kind of taken over for him.
I think where you left off was season 4? Anyway, the show has always been up and down, but I liked season 8 and people seem to really like 9 so far. I need to get caught up. Also, apparently season 10 is a go. In some ways I kind of wish they'd just wrap this thing up.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

The show was up and down for me. I really liked the premise and most of the writing. However what would kill me is you'd have a good episode of character and plot development and then an episode where some kid ingests black kryptonite or something and has some superpower and Clark and Chloe have to take him down. There were way too many of these filler episodes for me to watch the show weekly. I got into it initially because HDNet would show them in HD back in the day all the time. This was before the proliferation of HD and I watched initially because of that. My parents were fans and they got me into it as well as they explained more of the plot to me. Then at Costco they had the seasons on sell for like $9 each one day. So I bought 1-4 and got caught up (coincidentally I also picked up the first 4 seasons of Gilmore Girls the same dayOriginally posted by MarkGrace View PostBy the time Lana's character came to an end, she was completely unbearable. ) but couldn't get into it weekly. Maybe if I caught the rest on DVD it would pique my interest more.
You're right though Kristin Kreuk is extremely attractive. Though when Lois was introduced I liked Eric Durance a bit more, probably more to do with her sassy character."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Smallvillle has more filler episodes than any show I've ever seen, which does kind of suck. When the shows stays on track, it can be pretty good. But for the most part it only does that at the beginning and the end, with a handful of episodes in the middle. The show was up and down for me. I really liked the premise and most of the writing. When I started watching premium cable shows, I was a bit disappointed that they were generally about 12 or 13 episodes long. Now, however, I really enjoy those series because they tend to stay more focused than those cash cows on major networks that need to churn out 20+ episodes per year.
I love Lois. Her character is much more enjoyable, and even those KK is a total babe, there's just something about Lois that is a bit more, uh, um, womanly. You're right though Kristin Kreuk is extremely attractive. Utah theaters lead the nation in 'New Moon' ticket sales

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah theaters lead the nation in "New Moon" ticket sales. Utah has become ground zero for the "Twilight" phenomenon.
Over the weekend, three movie theaters were ranked in the top 5 in total ticket revenue from the new release.
By taking in $142.8 million, "Twilight Saga: New Moon" had the third highest opening weekend in box office history.
Some of that success is owed to Utah audiences. Five Megaplex Theatres showed the movie to 190,000 people. That's more than the population of Salt Lake City!
A Megaplex spokesman confirms the theaters in South Jordan, Sandy and the Gateway were first, second and fifth in total ticket revenue from "New Moon" from Friday through Sunday.
That's even more impressive when you consider that statistic just adds up the money from tickets, which are cheaper here than in places like New York or Los Angeles.
Megaplex has already booked entire theaters for groups planning ahead for the release of the third "Twilight" movie in June.

Lana can be whiny, and Lois is falt-out abrasive. Her social skills are terrible and I wish she'd die. At least Durance's portrayal of the character is consistent with the movie version.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI love Lois. Why do I see movies like this? Who knows...I guess to partake in the cultural phenomenon. Anyway, this was even worse than the first. The acting and dialogue were just laugh-out-loud bad, and that was precisely what my wife and I were doing most of the movie. We kept commenting that if we had seen this in a crowded theater people would have just hated us. Fortunately the place was empty.
A question: where does all this team Jacob business come from? Given all the t-shirt hype and all these ladies saying they are now on "team Jacob," I thought for sure this chapter in the series would focus on some type of relationship between Jacob and Bella, and Edward would mostly be out of the picture. But there is no romantic link between Jacob and Bella, they are just friends (despite the fact that Jacob clearly likes her). Speaking of Edward, I seriously have to question the taste of any woman that finds him attractive. He is just flat out strange looking.
My last comment is that despite an abundance of good music on the soundtrack, they actually did a terrible job with it in the film. It seemed like had to play every song, so it was just a race to get them all out there without much consideration of how they fit the movie. That said, their use of the Thom Yorke track was awesome. Definitely the highlight of the movie for me.Last edited by MarkGrace; 12-03-2009, 11:00 AM.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

That's funny b/c your mom came into the house proclaiming, "We are on Team Jacob now!"Originally posted by Surfah View PostSeriously. Gidget went to see it last week with my mother and sister when we were visiting FN Phat for the holiday. They said old women were swooning when Jacob took off his shirt.
