I thought the first 45 minutes were boring but was really good the last 15. I guess it takes some time to set up.

The critique of the current administration was a bit too blatant for me.

"You're talking about Universal Health Care!"

My wife hated it (she isn't in to the whole alien invasion thing) so I doubt I'll watch it anymore. I'm just not that into tv dramas to watch anything without here. So I took it off the DVR.

So we'll get the 2 hours of Biggest Loser again (NCIS had priority over all 3). BL is a good show but it isn't doing it any service being 2 hours old every week. That takes just too long to watch. It isn't motion picture quality entertainment but takes just as much time.

They needed to break the pilot up into multiple episodes to develop the characters. They smashed the chronology together and it felt awkward. I will probably give it another chance for old times sake, but I was underwhelmed.

Totally agree. BL is a 15 minute watch in my house. We watch the challenges on Mute so I don't have to hear the really crappy commentary and then fast forward though everything else to get the weigh ins. We watch those in at least double speed and then skip to after the person gets kicked out and watch what they are doing now.

I was surprised that they revealed the true nature of the aliens so quickly. IIRC, the original didn't reveal that probably until the end of the second hour (it was a four hour miniseries if I recall). I guess they thought that the viewers mostly knew that anyway so they may as well get it out of the way.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The sleeper cell pre-arrival thing was interesting, but I thought it was all a little too smooth. Every V scene on the ship looked like an Ikea ad, and I just don't buy it. Also, where is the old V "symbol?"

Agreed, although I still think they packed to much "reveal" in the first episode. We were told the true nature of the aliens, how long they've been here and that one main character is one in disguise. And man, how blatant was most of the characterization and plotting? The alien guy (Morris Chestnut) always ignoring his cell phone and saying "it's no one baby!" Or the arrival of the aliens literally causing a Jesus statue to fall to the ground and shatter? Let's try some subtlety.

I actually really liked Morena Baccarin as the Vistitor's leader. She underplayed everything nicely. But the original had such great parallels with Nazi Germany (yes, despite the cheesy acting and dated F/X) while this one doesn't seem to have a solid handle on what it's agenda is.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

In the words of Lee Corso, "they blew their wad" on the first episode.

In their defense, however, it was about 10x as exciting as the original.

No way. The original had a much better cast of characters which made the action much more involving. The stakes felt higher.

oh my gosh. A couple years ago I rented the original from blockbuster and gathered everyone into the living room to watch this movie I had been talking up all day, only to sit down to a completely boring, 5-hours-too-long turd.
