Watching some of the contestants spin the Wheel o' Cake last night on The Biggest Loser got me to thinking about how reality TV pales in comparison to some of the old-time game shows--one of the contestants grabbed hold of the thing like she'd been watching Price is Right since she was a toddler. Better wheel use of a wheel, though was Wheel of Fortune back before they completely ruined the show by getting rid of the prize turntable where the contestants "got to" spend the money they'd just won on totally worthless crap and just gave out cash prizes instead.
There's the totally awesome Double Dare hosted by Marc Summers. Family Feud sought to replicate the success Price is Right enjoyed by finding an even pervier host. Hated Press Your Luck (Rod Roddy should have stuck with Price is Right, watched Shaaaaadoe Stevens! on Hollywood Squares from time to time though I couldn't tell you why, but I think my all-time favorite as a kid was Let's Make a Deal. I watched several episodes trying to figure out why people would dress as they had for the opportunity to win a gaggle of geese.
I'm sure I wasn't the only kid to waste time watching worthless television. Anybody else miss WoF's prize turntable?
