  • Game Shows?

Watching some of the contestants spin the Wheel o' Cake last night on The Biggest Loser got me to thinking about how reality TV pales in comparison to some of the old-time game shows--one of the contestants grabbed hold of the thing like she'd been watching Price is Right since she was a toddler. Better wheel use of a wheel, though was Wheel of Fortune back before they completely ruined the show by getting rid of the prize turntable where the contestants "got to" spend the money they'd just won on totally worthless crap and just gave out cash prizes instead.

There's the totally awesome Double Dare hosted by Marc Summers. Family Feud sought to replicate the success Price is Right enjoyed by finding an even pervier host. Hated Press Your Luck (Rod Roddy should have stuck with Price is Right, watched Shaaaaadoe Stevens! on Hollywood Squares from time to time though I couldn't tell you why, but I think my all-time favorite as a kid was Let's Make a Deal. I watched several episodes trying to figure out why people would dress as they had for the opportunity to win a gaggle of geese.

I'm sure I wasn't the only kid to waste time watching worthless television. Anybody else miss WoF's prize turntable?

I must confess I loved Press Your Luck when I was young.

I still say "Big money! No Whammies!" while I'm waiting to see if something works.

Homeschooling did have its advantages. I was a real fan of The Price is Right and watched it almost daily. I also was a real Jeopardy whiz before they made the questions all hard and stuff (does anybody else think they used to be WAY easier?). Wheel of Fortune was also awesome as a kid because I was so much smarter than most of the people they had on.

There was one with playing cards I used to watch too - Card Sharks? Can't remember the name. I liked that one too.

I was an uber nerd until I was about 16, btw.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

        Yes Card Sharks.

        "Gotta go higher, Bob"

I miss those skinny microphones. Does Drew Carey use one?

Card Sharks was the name. I think it was hosted by the dude from the Newlywed Game. You know, the same dude who know hosts Gameshows' wildest moments with Chuck Woolery.

I loved game shows as a kid. Here are a few others that I enjoyed, in addition to those already mentioned:

          Remote Control
          Couch Potatoes
          To Tell the Truth
Win Lose or Draw with its collection of fake celebrities
          Supermarket Sweep
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

While I was sitting at home watching the OJ trial for most of my junior year of HS, I watched a lot of Supermarket Sweep also. Great show. I never understood the strategy of some people. You go to the expensive crap and you load up your cart, not rocket science.

The Newlywed Game made getting married seem dorky and honestly a bit creepy. "Make Whoopie"... seriously.

Falafel, If i was Bob Eubanks and you were on the Newlywed Game, and I asked you where the strangest place you'd ever made Whoopie was, what would be the appropriate response?

Sorry but I must disagree. If I could be on any game show, it would be The Bachelor.

I hope he doesn't say "In the butt Bob."

My favorite Bachelorette moment was when they introduced that guy as a "pro snowboarder." I was intrigued to see who he rode for and all that, but soon found out that ABC's "pro snowboarder" is the layman's "snowboard instructor."

Since HFN stole my line, I will say in Lancaster County, PA
