  • UteStar's annual Top 5 tv list

You have all been lucky to be a party of my annual top 5 lists. Things have changed recently though as shows like Veronica Mars and Battlestar Galactica are no longer on the air. Sad.

    Here is the new list:
    1. Fringe--This is a fascinating and crazy show. I got into a bit last year but stopped...the show became progressively better. It is so out there, but very watchable. Anna Torv is awesome in her role and Joshua Jackson is very good in it as well.

    2. Dexter--Yes, the show has dropped a bit, but this season seems a step up again from last year. It is fabulous.

    3. Burn Notice--Very watchable show with very good actors and an interesting storyline.

    4. Lost--Before last season, I was sick of Lost. It didn't seem like anyone had a clue what to do with it, but last year was genius. Very good.

    5. Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia--This is the most inappropriate show on tv and it is hillarious. None of the actors have one ounce of humanity and no redeeming qualities about them, but the show is always very funny.

Other shows that deserve a nod: The Soup, Curb your Enthusiasm, Breaking Bad, the Office.

Modern family is one of the best new 5 shows IMO.

This thread is a disappointment. I was hoping to read your take on the best TVs on the market as we head into the holiday season. Your reviews are generally excellent.

I am still reaping the rewards from the suggestions in your 2007 Top 5 Showerproof Clock Radios. I love singin' in the rain!

I have Modern Family as one of the two best new shows on tv.

Sorry to disappoint. I plan on doing my review of the top 5 radio with cassette players reviews sometime early next week. I will text you before I post on it.

Sunny in Philadelphia is easily one of my favorite shows.

These five shows just became my most hated of all the shows that are on the air.

You don't have to hate all of them. Dexter and Burn Notice are on cable.

I don't have a top 5, because quite frankly there aren't 5 shows that I'm currently watching, but of everything out there right now Friday Night Lights is probably my favorite.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

My top 10 - not necessarily in order, because the order can change based on my mood:

                          1. Fringe - just a very cool show.

                          2. Sanctuary - starts tomorrow on Sy Fy. I love that stuff, and I think this one's very well done - not as cheesy as others in the genre.

                          3. Burn Notice - thought I'd hate it because the guy who plays Michael seemed like an arrogant prick. He may be, but if so, he's the most likeable arrogant prick I've come across. Great characters all around. Absolutely love Bruce Campbell in this.

                          4. Dexter - It could easily be number 1, but I don't get Showtime, and season 3 is always gone at Blockbuster.

                          5. Lie to Me - this show's really growing on me. Tim Roth is fantastic.

                          6. Bones - Bones and Booth are one of my favorite television pairs. Very funny show.

                          7. The Mentalist - The second most likeable arrogant prick - thought I'd hate the show, but I think it's great.

                          8. Dollhouse - Holy crap, but Eliza Dushku's about the hottest thing on television. Bonus that my wife likes the show, too.

                          9. Chuck - I'm pissed that it's on the brink of cancellation, and that it's not till next year that it starts up again. Sarah Walker is right there with Eliza Dusku as one of the hottest things on television, and I love John Casey - Adam Baldwin is hilarious.

                          10. RIP Reaper - cancelled - I loved the show.
If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

What about the show itself? Any good? I concur that Dushku is hot, but I need more than that if I'm going to give the show a try. You're a fellow Fringe and Burn Notice fan, so I figure we have similar tastes in TV.

Dollhouse is clever. It is not a typical Joss Whedon show as there is very little humor. In terms of Whedon shows, I would put it well behind Firefly and Buffy. I do like Dushku. The last few episodes of season 1 were very good, the rest of the season was slightly above average. It is really struggling in the ratings this year so I do not know how much longer it has to live.
