  • Monsters of Folk

A band consisting of Jim James(MMJ), M. Ward, and Coner Oberst & Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes.

It is a good listen, nothing earth shattering. I am running through it for the first time and definitely enjoying it.

Some songs that stood out on first go round,

    Say Please
    Temazcal
    Losin' Yo Head
    Map of the World
The Sandman, The Brakeman And Me.

This album looks just below mildly interesting. James is the only one in the bunch that I really like.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I'll stick to the Flight of the Conchords for my folk.

Ha, I thought the same thing.

I dislike Conor O'berst's voice, but this album is pretty awesome.... They sounded nice on Conan last night, too.

I'm going to have to try this one out. If you really like folk you need to get into David Wilcox. Start with his earlier stuff and work your way to the present.

The Bearcat guy is a differet David Wilcox. He's a Canadian blues guy.

Yes the David I'm writing about is the "Boob Job" guy. He is a great songwriter and a master of alternate tunings on the guitar.

This is a song about a woman who rides a Honda Hurricane. I highly recommend learning to play it if you're a guitarist.

Here's the Boob Job rap thing Commando was writing about. David performs this in concert usually by doing the bongo part by slapping the top of his guitar.
