    Awesome!

So, I'm on a softball team with a bunch of guys I know, most from my ward.

It had been some time since I played when we started the spring season. I was never spectacular - got cut from the baseball team in HS - but I do okay. Used to be able to switch hit, at any rate, and play a reasonable 3rd base or 1st base.

Some of the other guys on the team are good players. Four played in college. One of them made it all the way to AA ball.

When I started up this spring, I was a warm body and really stunk it up. Consistently batted last. That was right as I was losing weight, and I started to get better with the weight loss.

Today our roster for the game came out. I am batting second to last.

    I am so excited!

    Congrats!

Be prepared for a lot of intentional walks. The other team will most certainly rather face the guy in the 9 slot.

Lol, you remind me of the really funny part. Back when I was really struggling to remember how to hit, I figured I was better off going deep into counts and drawing walks. The habit stuck. So I get as many walks as hits now. Seriously, who does that in softball?

Be proud that you have a hitter's eye. It's a gift.

I have to ask - how many times did you strike out looking?

None, thankfully. I would have never lived it down.

Nor should you have lived it down.

In all sincerity, keep it up. It sounds like you're having a fun time.

And in full disclosure, I actually have a lot more difficulty hitting a softball. The lack of velocity and the arc really give me problems.

I have never struck out swinging in softball. But did strikeout once looking. It was an iffy call at best. But too close for me not to swing so it was my fault. The guys on our softball team gave me a hard time. I did drive in the game winning run on a ball I blasted over the CF's head as he was playing up trying to keep the runner on second from scoring. So I redeemed myself. But I was really embarrassed still. We had a horrible guy who would strike out swinging once a game.

I've never struck out in softball, but I've struck out more than a few people, most of them looking. I pitch a mean slow-pitch, it's the only reason you'd want me on the field.
