At the intersection near my office, which happens to be off a major road (in rush hour no less) a man is standing on the corner holding a sign that says "I cheated on my wife and this is my punishment."

Are Don & Mike still on the radio? They were on in Sacramento when I was there and I would listen to them all the time, I thought they were good.

Don retired and I think that Mike is still on with the rest of the crew. I enjoyed the show when I was in the NOVA area. I especially liked when they would rip the Sac-town area and the listeners would get on and start complaining. Good show.

Don's wife Freida was killed in a car accident. That seemed to be the end of the show. Don's heart just wasn't in it and he was getting burned out. He'd been in radio his entire life. So he retired about a year or so after her death. He moved up to Ocean City, MD I believe and started spinning discs at some local radio station but then quit again.

Like FN Phat said Mike continued on with Rob, Buzz, Joe, and Beth Ann. However, last month the show was canceled when legendary WJFK went a format change and became WJFK The Fan, sports talk radio.

Basically it's all Redskins now and sucks. The Junkies who had the morning slot are still there but reverted back to their old name, The Sports Junkies and generally keep the same style show. The Big O and Dukes show that followed was great. Oscar though was jettisoned to another studio and Chad Dukes (former Junkies intern) got his own afternoon show with LaVar Arrington. The rest of the morning is filled with Mike Wise columnist from The Washington Post. His show is okay. I don't care much for LaVar's show, but I haven't listened all that much.

It sucks that the Mike O'Meara show is gone. I know they're working on something and have said they'd be back somewhere else.

I will be driving through the city or whatnot and stop at an intersection, only to see a small group of protestors holding a large "Shame On....." banner. "Shame On 20th Century Fox..." "Shame On Hyundai Motors..." "Shame On the LAPD...."

Generally, the targeted company has just fired a bunch of people, cut pensions, or done something else that has offended that workers.

I also have noticed that nobody ever seems to be overly enthusiastic about holding the banners. The people are generally sitting in lawn chairs with a cooler and an ipod. They just sit there all day long.

These are pretty frequent in Las Vegas, especially around the hospitals. I once went to talk to the people protesting, and they didn't even know what they were protesting. Turns out they were being paid minimum wage to be there. That may explain the apparent lack of outrage.

I've seen "Shame on IHC" in front of a few hospitals and some "Shame on Larry H. Miller" in front of some of his dealerships.

A friend of mine works for the Miller Group at the Lexus dealership. There were some of the Shame On protesters out front on one particularly hot day, so he took a big cooler full of ice and bottles of water out to them. The next day the protesters were gone. Apparently they moved to another dealership.

A lot of people have been upset about the format change...but it is the only sports radio station currently not owned by Dan Snyder (and he is trying to buy it). So, if you're a Redskins fan, it's way better than the alternate station owned by Snyder.

I've seen those "Shame On..." banners in both Las Vegas and SLC. They always include the language "Labor Dispute" somehwere on the sign, which I think is a total bunch of crap. At first, I thought that the company MUST have done something horrible like cut pensions, etc., to merit a sign like that. Then I started thinking, a labor dispute? You mean the other party doesn't agree with your position, and so they deserve a "Shame On" banner? What if your position is the unreasonable one? It seemed like a cheap move.

There was one outside my wife's hospital for a while. It was put on by the carpenters' union, and they were uspet because the new hospital addition wasn't employing union carpenters. My wife was briefed on the situation. Apparently, the hospital had sent out requests for bids, including to the union shops, but the union carpenters didn't even bid the job. They then got pissed, I guess thinking that they should have been given the job (?).

Anyway, the final rub is that my wife went up and talked to the people standing by the banner at her hospital. She basically wanted to know their side of the story. But the people sitter there (who happened to be hispanic women) said they weren't a part of the carpenters' local, they were just being paid to sit next to the sign. So the carpenters don't even care enough about the dispute to man the sign!
