Actually, I kind of get his point. Although your point may be true, his point may also be true. Basically, you're saying that BYU's TEs may be able to take advantage of OU's LBs and that may be the only matchup that BYU can exploit.

Blueintheface is looking at whether the TE vs. LB matchup on both sides of the ball provides a net benefit and he has, probably correctly, decided that it does not because OU has the best TE in the country and BYUs LBs are fairly average. The talent differential between OU's TE and BYU's LBs excees the differential between BYUs TEs and OUs LBs.

Yeah, but like Blue overlooked, you're overlooking the fact that SoCal is only arguing that our TEs vs. their LBs might be the only advantage. This point is so narrow I don't understand why everyone is trying to expand it.

Blue's idiotic (second) argument is that OU's LB's are better than BYU's LB's, and therefore they are better than our TEs. Sure, that's possible, but its by no means established.

There is a Blueintheface over there and a BlueNtheface over there. One poster I really like and the other not so much. I don't know which is which. It makes it tough responding.

I realize that SoCal's point is limited to the advantage that BYU's TEs will have over OU's LBs. Actually, a different poster makes the point that the collective benefit on both sides of the ball on that matchup goes to OU because of Jermaine Gresham. After reading Blueintheface's post that SoCal linked to, it doesn't make very much sense. Sooooo, because BYU's TEs don't go up against OUs LBs in practice, BYU's TEs aren't as good...I'll admit that it is nonsensical.

My point was that because our TE's against their LB's /S's is probably the only place BYU might have a talent advantage over OU, I would expect that we'll see Pitta and George with a lot of action in the game.

We have no advantage over OU when BYU's on defense.

What made me laugh was how the guy made a ridiculous, illogical argument, and then strutted (virtually) like he got one over on me.
