    Ford Escape

Anyone have one or know someone who does? We are thinking of buying the hybrid version.

Yeah, my wife has one and loves it. it's a 2008, and still looks new. It's not a hybrid, though. Funny thing, the Mazda Tribute is very similar, and we drove her sister's slightly older Tribute and hated it.

The Escape and Tribute are similar because they sit on the same chassis - which is essentially the chassis that the Ford Ranger and Mazda B-Series pickups were on.

So, if you've driven a Mazda B-series, you've driven an Escape.

We have friends that have one and they like theirs a lot. Great gas mileage and space enough to pack up some stuff and head out if the whim strikes. No problems yet, but it doesn't have a ton of miles, either.

The Escape and Tribute are the same vehicle aside from a few interior and exterior appointments and badges.

As to the Hybrid, they aren't very good. AFAIK, they're still only available in California. At least as of last summer. They're underpowered. Getting up and going on a freeway on ramp will tell you all you need to know. Then again, when you're only traveling 5 mph on the freeway in LA you may never notice. I have heard of people, order them, wait a few months for them to arrive and then trade them in within a month. Maybe the appeal has worn off, but last summer you were pressed to find one on a lot, so many never test drove them before purchasing.

Having sold them. I wouldn't buy one.

            We decided not to. Thanks!
