I'm assuming you mean in Nevada. The most recent test (July 2011) had a 66% pass rate. That's pretty typical.

The tests before that were 63%, 66%, 48% (yikes), 63%, 56%... The lowest results are almost always during the February test, which is the default re-take test for those who failed the July test.

Utah is normally in the 85%-90% range, I believe.

Edit: looks like Utah ranges between 82% and 87% for the past 10 years or so.

So roughly double that of actuarial exam pass rates.

Probably because most of the candidates start during the test.

54% in California, for the summer exam. I took it in the February exam and only 27% passed. (I was one of the fortunate quarter.)

So very true. It's one thing to work with smart attorneys who disagree about certain issues; it's another to work with morons. The reason I posted what I did is because I'm trying to get a settlement agreement done, and opposing counsel is an idiot. He seriously wants me to have my clients sign an agreement with an attorney fees provision that says "If[thesaint's client] sues to enforce this Agreement or to recover damages for any breach of this Agreement, [idiot's client] is entitled to recover from [thesaint's client] its attorney fees, costs, and expenses incurred therein." Really? In my redline I changed it to standard prevailing party language, and he says his client won't sign because of this and one other change I made. It makes me want to :slap:.
              Not that, sickos.

Spent some time thinking about Eli's machete and thought I could go one better. Decided on the wakazashi instead of the katana due to the length.

When the thing showed up it is as sharp as a razor blade. This thing could easily cut your leg off. I'm afraid to mess with it.

Any piece of flat bar can be sharpened. It takes a specially worked and honed piece of metal to hold an edge. When I watched quite a few of those Cold Steel videos (hilarious), I figured they had just taken a bunch of crappy costume weapons (the stuff that those of use who grew up in Napoleon Dynamite country used to drool over at the local Army Navy Surplus), and sharpened it. The price point of a cold steel sword also says 'expensive costume weapon' to me.

                    • It is a scary cyberworld we live in when the largest maker of security software gets their source code taken by hackers...

Symantec says hackers stole source code

(Reuters) - Symantec Corp said a 2006 breach led to the theft of the source code to its flagship Norton security software, reversing its previous position that it had not been hacked.

The world's biggest maker of security software had previously said that hackers stole the code from a third party, but corrected that statement on Tuesday after an investigation found that Symantec's own networks had been infiltrated.

The unknown hackers obtained the source code, or blueprint for its software, to Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition, Norton Internet Security, Norton Utilities, Norton GoBack and pcAnywhere, Symantec spokesman Cris Paden said.

Last week, the hackers released the code to a 2006 version of Norton Utilities and have said they planned to release code to its antivirus software on Tuesday. It was not clear why the source code was being released six years after the theft.
Interesting how quickly Symantec reversed their position after their source code shows up on the internet.

I think you're wrong about it being a cheap costume weapon. I didn't want to spend $5000+ on a traditional Japanese katana but still wanted something functional and dependable. I think it's better than you suspect. I have many good knives... and some that just cost too much.

I've seen them and watched people chop things with them around ranges at lunchtime and that always provides entertainment... but I don't know.

I'm sure they would crack/cut your freakin' skull.
