    Glock vs. Sig Sauer

I recently added a Glock 27 to my collection. As I have said previously, I have the compact Sig P229, and even though it is a smaller gun, it is not small enough to carry concealed (for my tastes atleast). The Glock is much smaller and about as good as I am going to get for concealed carry without sacrificing quality or firepower.

So this week I purchased the Glock 27, and I took both guns to the range. I wanted to break in the Glock and do a little comparison between the two guns.

Obviously this isnt an apples to apples comparison. The 27 is a subcompact, holds 9 rounds, and has a handle so short my pinky finger dangles off the end with nothing to hold onto. The Sig, while compact, has a full sized handle that fits my whole hand much better. Both guns are .40 S&W.

The Sig is definitely the better gun. It just feels like butter in my hand. The trigger pull is so light and smooth. The gun is heavy enough that the recoil is neglible, but not so heavy as to become uncomfortable or uncarryable. I was also more accurate with the Sig.

The Glock was accurate, but shooting it was much harder on my hand. My index finger didnt like the trigger safety, and I have a blister coming in after about 120 rounds right where my index finger makes contact with the trigger safety. The recoil on the Glock was more difficult to handle than the Sig. There were a couple of shots that caused some pain my hand. It also felt like the trigger pull was inconsistent on the Glock as well. Sometimes I had to exert a concentrated effort when firing, other times it felt like the gun when off when I barely touched the trigger and wasn't ready to fire.

I'm still a very inexperienced shooter, so I understand that I'll get more comfortable with both guns as I practice Anyways, my observations on the two different guns for those who might have some level of interest.

You went to the range and played with guns.

I stayed home and changed the oil in my car and my wife's van.

    I am jealous.

It is apparent, from the way in which we observe our respective 4th of July holiday weekends, who among us is the better American.

Actually, it might be sixes as you got your grill on and I picked up Carl's Jr. on the way home.

I will concede that you are the better American. Next time I'll just shoot the vehicles in the oil pan to drain the oil out.

The Glock is tried and true. But the Sig is much sexier IMO. I've never been a fan of Glock's square shape. But really you can't go wrong with either. I'm jealous.

A few things some of my friends have done to their G27's:

            1. 3.5 lb connector
            2. Night Sights
            3. Gap floorplates for the mags http://www.concealablecontrol.com/
            4. Extended mag release.
