    iPhone dislikes

    The "keyboard" sucks
it is piss-poor at recognizing number fields.
The browser needs a "basic mobile" setting (I like reading sites were it renders on one screen only, no zooming)
where is the darn rocker key?
Selecting text sucks (to delete stuff, for instance)
    EDGE blows chunks
    caps lock?
The phone sucks at rotating when wanted...I would have preferred a rotate button

    the screen is beautiful
    the apps store is intuitive
    spell correcting is nice
and...it swims well (yup, mine took a dip after 3 min of ownership)

Reminds me of my 3rd year Peds rotations(heart of RSV season) where after our 26th admission( by 0300), the senior resident flushed the admit pager down the toilet. Needless to say, the entire hospital really appreciated the overhead pages of "Dr. Walker, Please call Emergency" the rest of the night.

You're leaving out the fact that the iphone has one of the best/easiest UIs out there, not to mention the coolest apps you can find on a phone. Apps don't mean everything to everyone (and I'll bet you'll say that you don't care much for them), but for people who use the phone for more than just business, they are a real draw. And if you're using the phone for just business, you should have a BlackBerry anyway.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I actually like the palm UI better. I'm having a dificut time getting over no quick keys. It is a split second longer, but it annoys me.

Also,I said the apps store is intuitive. Palm has many useful apps, but they don't have the intuitive store. I already made that clear.

The browser is awesome for viewing some sites, but I wish I could render pages mobile like blazer did.

Also...where is the rocker key? SD card? IR port?

BTW copy and paste sucks. They did it this way necause the screens accuracy isn't great.

Where is a to do list? Come on... That is a joke

I love my iphone but have one big annoyance. I can't seem to receive pictures in a text message...it makes me go to a pain-in-the-ass website to view the pic. In contrast, my wife's neanderthal phone sends and receives pictures via text like a champ. For the life of me I can't imagine why iphones sucks at this.

Didn't they fix this with the new update? I haven't tried it yet because none of my friends use MMS, but I thought 3.0 was supposed to enable that function.

it is enabled but ATT does not support it for the iphone (this is lame since even their basic phones support MMS)....rumors end of summer...early fall.

Thought I'd bump this to ask a question...I've been looking at getting a new phone. I've had my same Nokia 6682 for 3 years now and it's worse for the wear. I've been due for an upgrade for a long time. Gidget is up for an upgrade as well.

I've been looking at the iPhone. Most likely the refurb 3G model and not the new 3Gs. First, is the difference that striking between the two to justify the price? Has anyone used a 3rd party app to record video on the old 3G?

My main question involves the plans. Gidget and me have a family plan. Since we accumulated a ton of rollover minutes I changed our plan to a more modest 700 minutes/mo shared with all of our rollover minutes there as backup. I removed the internet access from our phones (Gidget never uses it and if I ever need it I use my work Blackberry). But we do have the unlimited family texting plan. Altogether that plan sets us back about $113/mo including taxes and all that other BS.

I know the iPhone requires the $30/mo internet fee per phone. Can I reasonably expect to keep the same plan and text package and assume my monthly bill will just be $60 more a month for the two phones? I'm still mulling this over and entertaining other phones. Right now with the unlimited text plan I can add all the internet access I want for just $10 per line. That would only raise our bill by $20/mo, the problem is there just aren't any phones I like offered by ATT except for the iPhone.

I have zero complaints about my iPhone. My wife and I both feel like it's the best investment we've ever made. And we think the keyboard is great. I takes about three days to get used to, and now we write MUCH faster on the iphone than on other phones.

A lot of doctorcoug's complaints make it sound to me like he is still figuring things out. For example, if you want caps lock, then just turn on caps lock. And selecting and deleting text is super convenient. Also, what's the issue with edge? Do you live in the middle of nowhere? My phone is always on 3G, and I'm in freaking Oklahoma.

The new iPhone has video capability and a little better battery life. If those two things are super important, go for the new phone. Otherwise, most of the upgrades are software-based, and the phones are super-cheap.

And yes, I'm on a shared plan with my mom, and nothing changed on her bill except for the internet charges.

And Flystripper's beef is legit, along with the iPhone camera...either I haven't figured out how to do basic stuff I took for granted with my old hunk of junk phone, like zoom and brightness, or the iPhone camera is just point-and-shoot.

There are some helpful tips to reduce the battery drain floating around. There's a huge difference in battery life when you use the 3G network and when you don't. I use the Edge network exclusively, and I'm happy with it.

It's true that the iphone battery drains pretty fast if you sit on the internet all day. On the other hand, the battery charges VERY rapidly, so plugging it in briefly for a recharge once a day and again at night just isn't a big deal to me.

It also appears that the 3GS is having a problem with overheating.
