One of the things I like about France so far is that the waiters aren’t constrained by manners. My wife just ordered a steak medium well and the waiter visibly recoiled. I almost gave him a high five.

Scott's Cheap Flights is now called "Going" and my wife subscribed to it. Thus far we've got the following all roundtrip, except the last one:

CLT to LON, coach, $387
CLT to Prague, 1st-class, $1021
CLT to SEA, 1st-class, $470
CLT to BOS>>NYC to CLT, first-class $483, total

Yesterday, we had CHS to Tokyo for $517, coach, but it's in January when we can't go.

Anyhow, it's made empty-nesting very interesting.

I'm also currently subscribed to Going but not using it very much.

Staying by the Eiffel Tower/Trocadero is not hte best idea because it's so far out of the main tourist area. Staying closer to Notre Dame/Saint Germain/Marais is much better, especially when looking for a restaurant for dinner. But like BP says, being close to a metro station is the real key. Les Halles is even better since there's like 4 or 5 lines that run through there and it's central to most of Paris.

I have found being close to a metro station is all I need. I stayed near Les Halles last time and it was good.

Just dm'd my Paris tips document to you. I'll be in France from June 2-11 so maybe we'll run into each other.

It was a great help for me a couple years ago.

Our first trip, we stayed over near the Trocadero. It was fine. Place de Victor Hugo was fun. Short walk to Arc De Triomphe.

Second trip, we stayed over in the Left Bank area near Saint Chappelle, just off St Germaine. We loved it there! So much to do, and super central to so many great sites.
