Had first meeting. Will have a few clinics tommorrow and Tuesday don,t know if I will make any of them. Some summer camps. Guy just off mission that dated Elder Detmers daughter helped us. Camp by old Idaho Youth ranch this year. Don,t know how much of it I will make. Or camp in Snake. River Canyn area by Swimmers old stomping grounds. May have July camp but practice starts August.

Will have jamboree of a few schools do 15 plays a piece, fundraiser and I think our first game is 15 to 20 miles south of beaver territory in town that produce smartest kids in small school division, full of things farm kids hate in spring to clear were our crops grow. Fellow poster army grad lives down there. I will keep you posted. Hopefully this years team will go farther than the team did last couple of years.

August 26 the Bulldogs welcome the Dietrich Blue Devils to kick off the Idaho 1-A Division II 8 Man football season. I think that Alan Astle's cousin will still be the best athlete on the field and that gives the town that gave us Acey Shaw a distinct advantage, but I expect this game to be much closer than last year's tilt where the Blue Devils beat us up pretty good. We have a new coaching staff that is young but I like these kids. I also maintain that our football team really underachieved last year. It will be a great game and I look forward to seeing you then!

We host Richfield a few weeks later and I will be bar-b-qing a great spread for the Tigers and they get to come to South Central Power county and inhale the fumes with impunity!

I have coached youth sports since I moved to Rockland. Two years ago we started a Junior High track team and I got to be the head coach of that. Then last year I did the JH team and helped with the HS team and this year I got to take over the high school program. It is a serious rush. The first year I did it I had an 8th grade girl that was a stud. Last year at the end of the hoops season she injured her foot and had to have an operation so she missed all of track season her freshman year. This year she was one of 4 girls that came out for the HS track team. On Saturday she won the State Championship in the 300 meter hurdles and that was one of the most intense adrenaline rushes I ever experienced. Her face, the validation of the systems we put in place...man it was insanely fun. If you could feel that you would quit your job and go coach.

Earlier this year I took a group of our middle school kids up to Idaho Falls for and invitational. We scored a bunch of medals in the individual events and then we beat all those schools in the 4x400 relay in gale force winds. That was another intense rush as my anchor leg crossed the finish line. Small towns can often have a standout individual but for a community of 500 people to be able to put together 4 7/8 grade girls who can collectively outrun the teams from all the middle schools from IF to Rexburg is a huge statistical anomaly. It was an insane feeling but to be honest it did not compare to watching our hurdler finish out that 300 hurdle race in first place and the look in her eyes when I got through the crowd to the finish line. Difficult to describe.

Other than parenting it is probably the most fulfilling thing I do that connects me to my community and makes me feel as if I am meaningfully giving of myself to others with no gain except the emotion of seeing kids improve and achieve. The next two years I get some influxes of talent from our middle school girls that is going to allow our team to have a run that is going to be a blast.

My hurdles coach is phenomenal human being. Very orthodox mormon woman. At times I think her greatest regret in life is she was never able to give birth in a rickety wagon being dragged up Rocky Ridge by either her struggling husband or an oxen while snow piled up around her in a cold Western Wyoming fall blizzard. It would help her to connect with Great-Great-Great Grandma Jessperson or something. She has 8 kids of her own and they will all contribute significantly to the world, the LDS Church and their communities and hopefully add to their family total of State Champions which sits a 2. However, she is not melodramatic and huggy. She drags around wheelbarrows, helps with cement work and prefers serious backpaking in the Tetons to a day at the spa. A great example of her as a coach was at practice one day a 6th grade boy fell hard when he caught a hurdle. She walks up to him and asks if he is OK. He replies "yes, I think so." So she replies "Good, get up and do it again as you have to do it now to ensure there is no mental block."

She was so excited when our girl won state that she gave me a high five - that is a big deal. It was an insane experience. I just hope there are many more like it in years to come.

Missed camp with another school. Good athletes. One star padre took job in east Blaine county. He got elected sbp. Better stay senior year. Neal in GC said Internet has no truth filter. People with no idea of situations like to serve as judge jury and executioner for bad situations. Jamborees and football season starting will be great.

Shod be prepared for game in a couple weeks. Parents meeting, those that coached are some parents real pita,s? We were playing top team in state and conference championship on line and parents begging to play there son during game. He was scheduled for hernia surgery so would not be able to play again. Relented on conversion and he played in some Jr. Games.

Are t here parents not letting there kids practice certain days or out of town when practice starts. A few a bit overprotective. Let me coach. Some kids do no wrong coach is always wrong. I guess if yu coach some parents will always be ,ad at you. There kids earn playing time by showing up, are better than other kids or parents ow more than coaches. Most parents are probably supportive I think, just one or two sets always mad.

Had jamboree were we stand behind players do some coaching with other teams involved. Teams we played didn,t let them in end zone. Football jamboree is series of plays with other schools not a whole game. Should have good team this year, though not a lot of depth. Lot of families moved so cut down on what we could have.

End ow week maybe I should go fishing in Americn Falls and head 20 miles to the south. Probably wn,t but will ride bus to town yet to win state championship in team sport in 100 or so history, though they had good teams., I worked at radio station with I kid from that town he mentioned playing8 man football. And I played against him, game should be closer than last year but we should come out with win.

One parent divorced is on trip out of town so kid won't get to play until 3rd game. If y could mm it to team should be there when football starts not when school starts after Labor Day. Game show led be decent this week. And maybe town that produced GA,Swife will eventually have state championship in something. Ron Haun never had nation nap championship at Ricks thigh he had a couple of unbeaten teams.
