Reminds me of a case we had that went to trial. The other side brought in their expert trial attorney from Califorina to first-chair the trial. His last name was 'Duffis,' and he was all too willing to share with us about his appearances as an extra attorney in more than a dozen TV shows. We were impressed.
The judge (an older guy, bordering on senility) couldn't stop calling him Mr. "Doofus." The jury thought it was pretty funny (as did I. Somehow the senior partner trying the case managed not to giggle about it). After the trial (we won), one of his questions to the jury was whether or not the frequent mispronunciation of his name caused them to disregard his opening and/or closing statements. After chuckling at the question, each of them said it had no effect.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Wow....that would've been hard to have been respectful and not giggled. I had a gastritis attack one time in NOLA and we went to Ochsner Hospital. The ER doctor's last name was Coffin, which I couldn't resist asking about. He apparently gets the comment from every patient so he didn't find my observation of "rough name with your job" witty at all. He did, however, give me some medicine that made my stomach stop feeling like a cat was scratching it from the inside. I wouldn't wish gastritis on anyone.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostReminds me of a case we had that went to trial.
